There was definitely a net hanging in front on the big south side board. If you didn't notice it it was probably because it wasn't being put up and down. I even talked to a YESCO employee who commented that the net was killing the HD effect. If you thought the screen was good Saturday wait until they remove the net, which I'm assuming they will.

As far as oldrunner goes, I generally ignore his posts. Most are just condescending ramblings.

Olds generally views himself as a prophet.. all knowing, all seeing, and all encompassing. I never read his posts, typically. The south screen was totally messed up. Picture quality sucked. They need to address this like now! Also, the sound levels were deafening. Sound level sucked!

But screaming marketing dude was no longer part of the game atmosphere.

Don't want to nitpick, but with such an awesome big screen with HD quality picture, I hope they can find a way to move the netting. It really diminishes the quality of the picture. Hope they can figure out a way to lower the net and only raise it for kicks. Wasn't it that way before?

New, retractable netting will be installed on the south end in the near future. Not sure of the exact timeline, though.

Good to hear. Thanks for the info.

Yes, they raised and lowered netting on the north end.
Yes, the south end had netting that stayed put the whole time.
Yes, the south end netting really detracted from what should have been an awesome picture.
Yes, retractable netting will be an appreciated and awesome fix.
An additional nitpick from my wife; she thinks the score/timing part of the display should be along the bottom where her eye naturally looks for that, instead of the top. I disagreed with her because that's what I do, but I'm not really sure if I prefer it one way or the other. I guess if you're comparing it to the typical TV broadcasts, she probably has a valid point. I think the spots built into the old scoreboard were indeed below the video screen.
Yes, Olds' posts have a tendency to annoy.

That definitely improved the game experience for me.

 I hope that continues...& Yes, please lower the audio volume, especially from the pop rock music...but I know that's what the young-uns like. :twocents:

Agreed with oldrunner, Stewart Stadium (& DEC) are great facilities now to be at for the fans, just hope that more fans show up to enjoy a great college sports atmosphere...it's worth the ticket price. :thumb:

@ Alumni: I thought attendance was decent for the opener. The more the merrier, but...

@02: Agreed! I was walking to the car when I heard it being played and told my wife that's a great "theme" song and wondered why it wasn't thought of before.

Facilities playing part within dynamic of the Big Sky

While at the Big Sky media day, Walsh pointed to Weber State head coach Jay Hill and said WSU is the standard of the conference in facilities.

WSU opened the Barbara and Rory Youngberg Football Center in September and cost $16 million, according to KSL.com. The 27,000-square-foot building serves as the main entrance to the stadium and features a new strength and conditioning facility, football locker room, expanded equipment room, football coaches offices and position group meeting rooms.

And that’s just one of multiple buildings WSU’s opened in the last decade.

Hill believes the Wildcats have the best facilities in the conference. Everyone else is just trying to catch up, he added.

And so far, it’s translated. WSU is one of the most successful programs in the Big Sky in recent years.

“If you look at what we have compared to the rest of the teams in the league, we’re lucky,” Hill said. “For recruiting, when we get guys on campus, we rarely lose those guys just because they see the difference between where we are and what other people have. It’s good. I’ve just got to get them on campus.”
