Not so bad

We are not really that bad. If you look at the conference standings as of this week (10-16-09) comparing pts. for vs pts against in conference play, we are in a spot that refects where we really should be. We should do well against Sac State, but will have trouble with Weber and Montana. I think we are just a few plays and breaks from being a very good team. I hope the team gets lots of support on these last 3 home games and we come away with some more wins.

Standings PF PA Difference
Weber State 181 95 86
Eastern Washington 157 105 52
Montana 131 85 46
Northern Arizona 136 101 35
Montana State 61 51 10
Northern Colorado 82 106 -24
Sacramento State 109 136 -27
Portland State 106 178 -72
Idaho State 44 150 -106

Did you just really make a we are not so bad post? Really? Since when is a 2-5 team not bad? Since when is a coach who is 5-36 not a bad coach? Amazing what one game against maybe the worst team in the FCS division does for confidence.

So wanting your team to do well...long term makes you a fair weather supporter?

I dont think you can call any of the reguars on this board 'fair weather supporters' we have continued put in time and energy even though we have one of the worst records in the country.

No doubt. It's also silly to take one statistic and redo the standings based on that on statistic.

Our 2 wins are quality wins...What is everyone crying about?

ISU has "0" wins. Than will help us in the RPI
San Diego was a quality win. They have 3 wins on the year:

*A win against Azusa Pacific, a "1" win NAIA school,
*A win against a "3" win Marist squad,
*A win against a "1" win Valparaiso squad.

PLAYOFFS, HERE WE COME!

You forgot one thing in your comment about the fair-weather supporters on this board. $$ MONEY $$ Yes they do put in their time and energy, but they need to put some money where their mouths are also. I for one actually do give money along with my support. Encourage everyone to contribute to UNC athletics. Put this link in your posts to make it easy for people to contribute. All winning programs are well funded.

I'll be honest and say I don't donate to athletics. I used to, but I have a really hard time giving my hard earned money and then having the AD turn around and give it to a coach who wins one game a year... whoops two games after three years. I still give to UNC, but as long as the AD seems to tolerate, and even endorse dismal performance, my money goes to facilities.

Does that make me a 'fair wether fan'? I guess maybe by your definition, but in my mind being a supporter of something is different than being a blind sheep.

I too was in Blue and Gold club, giving money and buying season tickets each year. Then Hinrichs cut the club, instead starting his own brainchild the Northern Colorado Athletic fund. His arrogance and indifference to the old time boosters was/is chilling. Get him out of here, get Downing out of here, and lets change the culture back to winning, being respected nation wide, lets do it the right way. We can compete at this level, and it should be easy to recuit to this wonderful campus, with all that we have.
