I've always felt that reality will sift guys out, but I haven't really ever felt bad for guys because they are pursuing a sport they love and getting school paid to do it. Some guys get sifted out by their own ability level, some get sorted out by coaches valuing something different than what they bring, some by other situations. I hope Dallas and Johnson are doing well in school because even if basketball doesn't work out, getting a college degree without any debt is a really valuable thing in today's world! Dallas will do great at Seattle and Johnson will get his chance somewhere else.

I would say that Dallas has already been successful as a player and as a student. He has earned his degree while contributing 4 years to WSU basketball and is now taking his victory lap. What could be better? I feel that Spencer will get exactly what he wants out of his abilities as a player and a student. So far, it has been a rocky road for him, one semester on a grant and one as a walk on. Pope didn't value him enough to bring him in at BYU, Madsen didn't value him enough to offer him anything at UVU, and now SLCC is hiring a new coach who will need to decide if he fits in there. He is a good kid and I wish him success in his career as a player and student. I have a feeling that he will land on his feet.

On another note, I heard recently that Randy threw a couple of his seniors under the bus after the season was over--in meetings with the returning players, tried to blame Brekkot and Zach for the team's failure to achieve much this year. I did notice some very poor chemistry throughout the season, but I didn't feel it was Brekkot or Zach. Brekkot was a little up and down, but Zach was pretty consistent. If this is true, can't build a very strong culture when you are bad-mouthing your main guys once they leave. Looks to me like we have nowhere else to look but at the head coach for the poor achievement and culture. Maybe that's why Bovee left: could see the train wreck happening and couldn't see a way to fix it without a lot of money or bad pub.
Johnson is not my boy, but his family is good friends of ours. I speak with many of the AAU coaches in Utah and elsewhere, so I am aware of the goings on at different universities. True that Johnson has had to deal with some adversity, but he's not the first guy to go through it and will learn some good life lessons regardless of how his basketball career turns out.

Spencer announced today that he has chosen to continue his basketball career at SLCC. No mention as to if it is as a walk on or on grant, but I am assuming that he was offered by their new coach. I don't know who that coach is at this point, but I hope Spencer does well there and can then move on to a great D1 career. Like Dee has said, sometimes life teaches some hard lessons. Hopefully, we all learn and grow from them.

Jalen Sanders is transferring out of UNCO. This is a blow to their chances of challenging for the top of the BSC, IMHO. He is a quality wing player. I hope he finds a good home to finish his last two years. Everything I have heard is that he is a good player and a good teammate.

Hmmm...interesting move by Sanders. Maybe with the new guys coming in he saw his chance for PT being cut. Bad time to leave for both Sanders and UNCO.

I am pretty surprised all these big schools are after Jones, looking at his numbers they are pretty solid other than the fact he can't stay on the floor. His shot blocking numbers are better than I remembered. Oregon State has minutes for him seems like the best option.

Biggest knock on Jones I can see is he's never stuck around anywhere long enough to actually develop. UTEP, Odessa, ISU, and now somewhere else. Every coach has his own style he prefers, so now Jones will have just one year in another system to fit that style. He'll land somewhere, because it's not a bad thing to have a 6'11" guy coming off the bench to get some minutes.
