off season workouts

I remember the basketball workout (sprints) video a few months ago. Didn't really put them over the top.

Ha ha, that's the first thing I thought too me being forever the cynic. But all the yelling sounds good I just hope translates to at least one win.

It really is amazing the amount of work these kids put into being college athletes and sometimes it amounts to just being able to keep up with all the other programs that are working just as hard.

I wonder how any of the sports are going to be and their off season workouts since the Bears lost a great asset by getting rid of the only person who had a link to all the bear conference champions so far, the strength coach.

Just curious, where did Coach Joe go?
I thought he was employed by the athletic department not the football program.....was that incorrect?
Does anybody know?

Agreed. Another great decision by Coach Collins to bring in "one of his boys". His poor decision making will eventually be his demise. And I have a feeling he will pull the AD down with him. Just sayin'....

What coach in America doesn't do this?

He should of done it when he got here if that's the case. He brings in Armour as OC and then demotes him after a year. Then he gets rid of his strength coach after a year. It seems to me he is making others be the fall guy as to why they were unsuccessful. Is Armour really to blame for the offense? This new spread offense was Coach Collins' idea, not anyone elses. It will be interesting to see if Boyer has spread experience or if they decide to try something new.

FWIW, I've heard from some athletes that the former strength coach's workouts were __SO__ intense that the athletes felt they were worse off on game-day, I guess due to muscle fatigue. (a 'course, I hear the same about FB practices in general...)
Full disclosure; I'm not an athlete, I don't know the first thing about either strength coach; i'm just parroting what I've hear from more than one athlete. If the former guy had good Big Sky connections, then that is a loss.

We went 0-11 last year if there wasn't any shake up that would be scary... In fact I could do with a little more, anything to change what happened last year is worth a try. I don't think I could last through another winless season. A person can only take so much.

My son told me he's unemployed now thanks to Collins.
I do agree it's hard for guys to recover from a game when they are going full practice on Sundays.
Something needs to change but I don't understand how getting rid of a coach who got the guys in shape and built up can affect the games to make them go 0-11, my feelings are that's play calling and actual football coaching...

If your son is so unhappy, why doesn't he transfer or quit?

Are any of the players really "happy"? What, do you want them all to quit? A true athlete is dedicated to his or her sport and is always entitled to their opinion. If you are so quick to judge and feel that way...if all the players do what you say, then do you realize UNC probably wouldn't have a football program.

Yes, but any athlete has to believe in what the coach is doing.

How can these boys believe in what their coach is doing when they can't believe what he says... My son was very shocked when he learned that his coach flat out lied to the whole team about something. It's not easy all the time to just quit or transfer. My son has been here since before Collins and he believes in his team, in his football brothers because they have been through it all together... My son along with his fellow athletes did not chose their coach but they stay because of their TEAM, because of their work ethic. I (along with most if not all the parents) did not raise a quitter.

So what did Collins lie about? If your son decides to transfer then that's not the same as quitting. If he doesn't believe in what the coaches are doing, they should by all means get out of the program.
