Official: SAC to the MAC

I'm not liking this one little bit, but it may not turn out as bad as I'm fearing. I'm not ditching the Hornets over this the way some of my friends and family ditched the Cowboys over their mishandling of Micah Parsons.

Gaucho brings up a good point, but SD may well have answered it correctly. My personal preference (if their is a Title IX problem) will get laughed at, but I don't really care: start women's football. A schollie-for-schollie balance would kill the problem right there.

I've been concerned about the disposition of the Olympic sports, but that question seems to have been answered; the speculation of parking them in the Big West seems to have come to fruition. That was a major concern because indy status for sports like hoops and volleyball is way worse than for football. At least we have that.

My biggest concerns with joining the MAC are the travel footprint, the idea I've seen in articles today that we've agreed to foot the travel bill for every MAC team coming to SAC, and the relative anonymity to which we're forcing on ourselves. There's absolutely zero chance we'll get an invite to the Abomination even if we happen to win the MAC title, and the best bowl to which the MAC has a tie-in is the Quick Lane Bowl.

But these are just nit-picks that have nothing to do with Hornet players, who are the best in the world as far as I'm concerned. I will continue to follow them and cheer for them, even if they're being led by crazy people...as crazy as Jerry Jones, who has relegated the Cowboys to oblivion for years now....

It will be interesting to see how that time slot works out. I figured it’d be more like 6pm.

I get wanting to start earlier so the game doesn’t go too late into the evening, as people need to work the next day, and also to accommodate the Eastern and Central time zones for TV viewers. But that’s a tough time for people to navigate from work to the game during rush hour traffic.

KINGS home games during the week are 7:05 (used to be 7:35 years ago).
A’s home games during the week last season was 7:05. This season they’ve moved them up to 6:40.

Regardless whether it’s a 4 or 5PM start — many working folks planning to attend will likely need to take a half day off of work to be able to make that time work, especially if they plan to arrive early.

We'll kick off weekday home games when ESPN tells us to. Regardless of when kickoff is, I'll be there.

You do realize no one gives a shit if you ditch the Hornets, right?

I mentioned the olympic sports mix because of Cal Baptist - who we will both be sharing a league with - having to drop a couple this spring. But SD answered that question

I'll say it again, SD...

I think it'd be a good idea to set up ooc series with MAC schools in Olympic sports if you can. Akron men's soccer, Kent State and Toledo hoops, KSU baseball....

It'd be a win if the Big West could score that as a whole

Below is another interview with University President Wood.

I haven’t watched the SacTown Sports interview yet, as he probably stated many of the same things as he does in this interview — but one important financial aspect that stuck out to me was this.

Wood said that until 2 weeks ago the football program and athletic department didn’t have access to any revenue from merchandising, pouring rights, food and beverage, and parking — which was owned by a 3rd party from whom they have now re-secured the rights.
