Oregon State steps up, tentative to play PSU in 2009

"I'm told Oregon State has agreed in principle to play Portland State to open the 2009 season. Nothing in writing, but the sides are in agreement. Mike Riley is unafraid, and apparently up to the challenge, and is doing the right thing by tossing a bone the Vikings' way instead of doling out a fat guarantee to Eastern Washington or Idaho State.
Again, nothing has been signed, but I'm told this is tentatively a done deal for Sept. 5, 2009.
Nice to see that a large chunk of guarantee money will be infused into the general fund at PSU via one of the other state-funded institutions. Eastern Washington and Idaho State will have to find $400,000 for its general fund somewhere else."
