Gubrud and Briscoe both are incredible talents, but benefit a lot from their particular schools offensive style of play. There are others, IMO, that have similar skill sets that would produce similar numbers in our and the Bearkat offense. Both Gubrud and Briscoe were somewhat unknown commodities (much more so for Gubrud), so gameplanning against them should've been more challenging then gameplanning for Kupp. Briscoe also had the advantage of padding numbers against very weak competition.
Between the three, I think it should be 1 - Kupp, 2 - Gubrud, 3 - Briscoe. But since the Stats voters showed a pretty distinct disconnect between the SOS factor by ranking SHSU #1 in the country, I think they will just look at the regular season stats, and award it to Briscoe for total yards. I think the voting will turn out to be 1 - Briscoe, 2 - Kupp, 3 - Gubrud.

You could be right, but I think it would have been *VERY* difficult for the voters to dismiss the fact that he finished breaking every college football receiving record in 2016. He's now the record holder for receptions, reception yardage, receiving TD's, and on and on. He also ran the ball this year and threw TD's. I think that probably counts for something.
I think Coop repeats.
If I remember right he wasn't there for the Rice Award and his dad picked it up for him. I don't think that has anything to do with getting it. It would kind of suck though for the group to not have the recipient of your biggest award not be there though. There might be a quick run to the trophy store tomorrowKJEagle said:In the article about the ADA Award on goeags.com it mentioned that Cooper won't be present in Frisco for the presentation of the Payton Award. Probably a pretty good indication that he's not going to repeat.
