I don't know about the rest of you, but I support our players 100%. They are giving all they have trying to bring some wins back to the program. Even though our record is not what we would like it to be this year, I think they have done a great job. I hope they can finish out the year with a couple of wins to at least make it worth playing for pride. They have been so close to having a wining season. it is too bad that they don't get the respect of the members of this board that only can see the loss column and not see the progress and respect the other teams have when they play us. I don't think any of them look at us as a team they can coast by and not have to really prepare for when they play us.

Posted today at Sports Network, regarding players trimmed/not added to Payton & Buchanan Watch Lists:

by Craig Haley, FCS Executive Director
Unfortunately, there's no way around it. There are 20 players on each updated watch list for the FCS' top individual awards, which are sponsored by Fathead.com. The schools of many other players have excellent gripes about why their leading players aren't on each list...

There are plenty of other players who aren't on the lists, but it doesn't diminish their seasons...

To name a few defensively, there's Western Illinois linebacker Kyle Glazier (No. 1 in the FCS in tackles per game), Wofford linebacker Ameet Pall (No. 1 in sacks per game, No. 2 in tackles for loss per game), New Hampshire linebacker Matt Evans and Northern Colorado linebacker John Eddy (all-around seasons), Prairie View A&M cornerback Moses Ellis (No. 1 in passes defended per game) and The Citadel cornerback Torez Jones (No. 3 in interceptions per game, No. 9 in passes defended).

I can see where you're coming from, but part of the lack of success is on the players as well. There were several games where the players FAILED to execute their assignments during games. I think of Sac state. I know Scott has brought in a lot of good players, but the ones we have aren't good enough to compete with the best of the conference.

Come on guy! What games have you been watching. We took Eastern and Montana State to the wire and in case you haven't noticed, they are tied for #1 in the conference. It's not the players, our coaches aren't getting it done

anyone who knows anything at unc, knows it's never been the players. ever......i still believe that this years whole 'team' had the glue to be a .500 team, or even better! but, they have been let down by the people or person leading them all year.... scott is not a leader, sorry. nobodys ever sold out on his great words or actions on the football field. and it runs down hill from there......they aint drinking his koolaid or swollowin' his pill either, just the facts, because i love his team. from the top down, play to win, play with your best players and chances to be succesful, always. i don't believe the staff has done that week in and week out this year.....

btw, sac st. that was the biggest sell out of the year by this staff! especially the offense! we never put baca in a position to be succesful all day. i think we ran 7 different plays all day. great......facing a quick d, we never make an adjustment all day...........the kids played great that day, coaches we really bad.................

I've never thought it was the players, I've always said that this team is talented, and that UNC has the talent to be better than what they are in the big sky.

Oh really? So Scott Downing fumbled the ball against EWU? Scott Downing fumbled at the one yard line against Texas State two years ago? Downing didn't knock the ball down against a hail marry versus Sac State and UC Davis?

He does shoulder some of the blame, but so do the players. They're not executing down the stretch in tight games.

I think it's easy to give free passes, but let's break it down the coach gets a 6 figure salary and the players are on scholarship and they they all suck that's the bottom line...

You want the paycheck or you want that free tuition, room and board, than win...

Any one of us morons could go out and lose every week it's not that hard.

Why do you support this guy? UNC is about to go down 14 to 0, in less than a minute, and you think this guy deserves to be the head coach?

My grandmother is a better coach than Scott Downing, or at least she isn't any worse.

A shockingly poor start, fumble the kick off, first play for SD = TD, recover onside kick, proceed to score in what, 3 play? 14 zip after 2 minutes.

That's a well coached team prepared to play!

Can we fire this clown on Monday please?

Let's leave him in Vermillion.

Game vs. SD is emBEARising. Nothing going right. Pathetic. This is a program we used to dominate back in the NCC. Hell, we even beat them last year.

I'm actually glad USD is embarrassing us. Now there can be no excuses by downing or anyone else about D2 players playing a DI schedule, or lack of funding, or not enough time for him to get his own players or if a few plays would have gone our way or blah blah blah. The bottom line is these coaches suck. We just got dominated by a team that truly does have D2 recruits. If downing had any honor, he would resign tomorrow.

Those mistakes are because of BAD COACHING! Getting players motivated, focused and ready to play is the coaches' job.

He's not a quitter. He won't resign. They'll have to fire him.

Don't worry, Bears fans. If NAU brings the same game to Greeley next weekend you will roll them with one eye closed. The Lumberjacks laid the turd of all turds in front of a strong homecoming crowd all after playing an astoundingly good game vs. the Griz in Missoula last Saturday.

A thoroughly disappointing effort from Flagstaff today.

You're going to roll us, MT. It won't even be close.

absolutely pathetic coaching today. these guys have let these kids down beyond believe. we should turn in our 1aa classification. we do not desreve it.......a well coached d2 team would work us at this point. i love these kids, but cant stand clowning and his inept staff of stooges.that was right up there with that sac st. performance for the year, wow. a hardy wtf to your staff coach.
again, i'll say it .......please put your best players on the field that give you your best chance to win...... but we don't, never will. coach cant lead 'em, players wont follow 'em. i'd like to see a game where just the team shows up without the coaches. bet they'd play hard, make good decisions and be very competive for 4 quarters, just sayin'
they're good kids and deserve so much better. and they aint gettin it here with this group....and to think scott and his guys get paid, be it very little, for this stuff............................
