No need to fire his contract is up so if Hinrichs even thinks of re-signing him Hinrichs needs to go also.

And the guy on the radio (not Troy, the other guy) blaming the color of the roof for the dropped kicks and the long bus trip for the lethargic start.... Hmm, did they move Vermillion then because we used to go in there in the NCC days and win so why is the long bus trip now an excuse? Although I can't blame the guy he is a paid shill it's just very insulting to make excuses for that pathetic display.

absolutely pathetic coaching today. these guys have let these kids down beyond believe. we should turn in our 1aa classification. we do not desreve it.......a well coached d2 team would work us at this point. i love these kids, but cant stand clowning and his inept staff of stooges.that was right up there with that sac st. performance for the year, wow. a hardy wtf to your staff coach.
again, i'll say it .......please put your best players on the field that give you your best chance to win...... but we don't, never will. coach cant lead 'em, players wont follow 'em. i'd like to see a game where just the team shows up without the coaches. bet they'd play hard, make good decisions and be very competive for 4 quarters, just sayin'
they're good kids and deserve so much better. and they aint gettin it here with this group....and to think scott and his guys get paid, be it very little, for this stuff............................

Dude, what makes you think we have good players? 90% of college football is recruiting and we haven't recruited enough good players to win in this conference. Which is too bad because there is parity in the league this year. It was up for grabs. When you're this bad, it's on the players and coaches.

First of all, his name is Alex Egan. He is a senior at UNC and is using the opportunity to do games to fulfill internship credits. He is not a "paid shill". He is someone taking time (and his own $$$) to learn his craft.

However, your comments do reiterate a strong lesson I've already highlighted to him: pay no mind to anonymous message board comments. Usually they fail to grasp all of the details.

On the travel note, consider a comment ISU's Coach Zamberlin made recently: "Do you travel to play or do you travel to win". Most in this conference travel to play. Montana's Director of Football ops travels 3 days ahead of the team to ensure everything's done a certain way. Ours? An unpaid volunteer.

I think Alex Egan did a good job in the post game interview with Downing. He asked him if this loss was on the coaches? I don't remember Downing's response but I think he took partial blame.
I give Egan credit for asking a tough question which, to my knowledge, has not been the case in the past. I'm curious to listen to the "Coach's Show" tonight when Egan interviews Downing again to see if he asks some tough questions again. And I'd like to hear some tough follow up questions if Coach Downing tries to skirt around the questions. As Bears Football Fans, I believe we deserve some answers about how this team can play well one week and so badly the next.

to troy and alex, i think your both doing a great job in a very tuff situation. i always enjoy listening to you guys and to your opinions and feelings. as a fan i say 'good job'. now, unlike our beloved bears, i can't say that. please, please put some pressure on scott today to answer some q's about his future, the staff's future, the programs future, and to why in the heck they decided to take out there anger on the kids saturday........ do we really deserve to be a d1aa? at this point, i say in football at least, we suck, bad........... we are the laughing stock of the conference, the whipping post of everyone.....please, ask scott how this is ever gonna change? we have never done a thing about putting a broader staff together, a knowledgeable football operations director, a traveling secretary, or many of the day to day positions that our fellow schools have. if you don't believe me , go look at the other schools staff. we are an embarassment to this conference(on the football level). please don't let scott get awat with another melba frickin milktoast radio show today. somebody ask the tuff questions. you got nothing to lose and we might actually find something out about our team and the future.......
again, you 2 are doing a great jog, keep it up. troy, for a smalltown radio show, your miles ahead of it all. good luck the rest of the year!

How did the radio show go? Did Eegan throw soft balls at Scott? I wasn't able to listen, so someone please fill us in.

Disappointing at best. Blamed a lot of it on travel. No real answers other than they decided to stick with their game plan even though they were down 14-0 right from the get-go. Didn't decide to go up tempo, no huddle until the second half when they were down 24-0.
What I'd like to know is, why was Orms able to read the defense so well and be so productive against Mt. State but seemingly had no clue against SD?

See my above comment about not knowing the details. For some reason, the posters here expect that we should put Scott through the Spanish Inquisition. The moment we do that is when my job is in jeopardy.

If it were a standard sports talk show, asking those questions might be appropriate. For a coaches show that Scott appears on--without receiving a stipend, BTW--its not good operating procedure. I could list a number of spectacular flameouts in my business from guys pushing the wrong line of questioning at a time they shouldn''t have.

Questions about strategy, about the rash of injuries, about various aspects of the program are asked and Scott has answered them. Many of those are not softballs. There are some control-freak coaches who wouldn't allow a question about strategy on such a show, but not once has Scott complained or gotten upset.

In fact, I invite you to come out to Palomino next time. Ask him your questions face-to-face. Scott always takes time to talk with those who want to talk with him there. I've never seen him avoid talking with anyone. This way, you can ask your question and show your support of a sponsor. You want answers? Become proactive in getting them.

You all have a right to be frustrated with the program right now. I get that. Don't take it out on me or Alex or others who are doing their jobs while dealing with the boundaries that are in place in any situation like this.

I have been reading the posts and watching and listening to the games and I believe what it comes down to is that our Bears are lacking chemistry. I think we have some good, some great players but if you do not have chemistry, you got nothing!! You can see it in all of pro sports. And it takes a great coach to bring that chemistry out in a team. Yea, we do need to get better on the offensive and defensive lines thru better recruiting!! A couple of wins would change everything. Doh!!! Go Bears!!

I think more than the offensive and defensive lines, they need to take a look at the backfield. You have fullbacks that miss or don't pick up blocks on blitzes and you have running backs that lack the speed and quick cut ability to get to holes that are there but close or get shut off before they reach the line of scrimmage. I've seen it many times where a back will run into the back of offensive linemen rather than running towards the hole and then breaking the run to the outside or cutting it back to the inside.
And what about the defense overall? The offense has put up a lot of points or taken the lead in a number of games this season but the defense has allowed the opposition to march right down the field and score. They've given up numerous big plays at critical times. The 70 yard shovel pass comes to mind in the Mt. State game, which if I remember correctly, was on third and long and would have forced Mt. State to punt if it had been stopped. UNC would have only been down by two at that time and the TD pass to Morris would have won the game.
Yea, and I do agree with your point about chemistry. I've seen guys on this team with smiles on their faces after big losses and others who are mad as hell.

You are so right on the backfield, Big Bear. They seem to go down easy and not quite quick enough. Seem to lack elusiveness! Defense is missing a lot of tackles and not wrapping up. Geez,I hate to be critical because I know they are playing hard. They just need to get the wins with those close games!!
