Sources tell me Sacramento State OC Paul Peterson has interviewed with BYU.

I don't think he'll be the OC, at least not full OC, at BYwho. It was reported a week or two ago that Mendenhall rehired the OC he fired a season ago. I hope Peterson doesn't leave!!!

Interesting. Was a GA under Anae in 2006. RT @coachingsearch: Sources tell me Sacramento State OC Paul Peterson has interviewed with #BYU.

Uptempo, read option, quick throws.. that suits Taysom very well. IF he's healthy (I think he will be) then he could thrive with Anae. #BYU

Looks like he'd be the QBC at BYwho.

Please don't go, Peterson!!!

Not a surprise. No doubt Peterson won’t be around here long, but I hope we hang onto him for another season or two.

I knew he'd leave soon rather than later too, but not this soon. He's definitely a coaching star on the rise. I hope that the Sac St Ath. Dept. can find a few extra dollars in the drawers to keep him for at least another season.

It would be nice to have the QB Club slush fund available right about now. :x

$300,000 vs. $100,000 (at best)

Seems like a smart move to me. Unfortunate for Sac.

Regardless of the $$$, going to BYwho is a smart move. The cougars are a respectable program which will only elevate his coaching profile. I wouldn't be surprised if he's only the QBC/Co-OC for only a season or two there before he's hired as the OC at an underachieving FBS program (i.e. Idaho or UNLV) to help turn 'em around.

He’s not going to from BYU to Idalol or UNLV, especially not if he is hired on as the co-OC. At that point he’ll be looking to make a splash at a BCS program (probably a rebuilding Pac-12 program). Going from BYU to an awful FBS program is a backwards move imo, unless he is going to be the HC at a bottom tier FBS program, I have a hard time seeing him make a backwards move.

I don't think it would be a backward move if it eliminates the "co" hyphenation from his OC label. I used Idaho and UNLV only as immediate examples, but would not doubt him joining a rebuilding program in any of the big 5 conferences.

So if Peterson leaves for BYwho, what do you think about looking at USD's OC, Tanner Engstrand?

I hope this means Peterson is staying. From footballscoop.com:

BYU: Sources tell us (and other local Utah outlets are reporting the same) that Utah passing game coordinator / receivers coach Aaron Roderick will join the BYU staff.

Latest rumor has Peterson going to Hawaii as the receivers coach. Losing both the O line coach and OC with the returning talent we have is somewhat disheartening. If this is true, I sure hope we get another OC before spring ball. I really don't want to see us going into the season with high expectations and then have Marshall calling the plays again.... we did that dance two years ago,

Seems a little late for a move but you never know given the nature of coaching moves these days. Hawaii is struggling under Norm Chow which makes this an interesting rumor. Does a middle tier FBS WR coaching position pay better than an FCS OC position?

The State of Utah ties are strong on the warrior staff. Petey came from SUU. There may be some truth to that rumor. But! Kennedy Polamalu, OC at USC, is not returning. With him available, I'd think Chow would go after the former USC coach.

Two coaches in the SAC area may be able to step in immediately and remedy any holes on the hornet O. Mt. Lions coaches: Turk Schonert (HC/former OC/former QB) and Larry Zierlein (o-line c). With the instability of the UFL, contracts w/ Sac St may appear very lucrative to them.
