We had our projected starting QB quit on this team after 2 games. I don't have any inside baseball on the relationship between Fresques and KB, and I don't really care. Maybe KB felt mismanaged, maybe his ego was too big and didn't want to give reps to a younger QB, maybe Fresques could have given KB more hugs and kisses, maybe lots of things. Who cares, ultimately KB quit and he left this team in the lurch and if given a medical year, will be at his 4th team in 7 years.
Camp leaving was a "meh" moment. Camp got the start in week 1 in '23 and KB ran literal circles around him from a performance standpoint and Camp was benched. His viability as a Hornet ended that weekend in Louisiana. Credit to Camp, he had a hell of a game in the playoffs at USD and almost pulled off a comeback against his old team. But we all knew Camp wasn't going to see significant reps barring major injuries to KB and Conklin so, meh. Camp wouldn't have saved this season, and in actuality Camp getting reps over Conklin would have delayed Conklin's development by a full season. It was evident with the spot starts of Conklin in '23 that Fresques was putting all the eggs in the Conklin basket.
Not sure what is going on with the JC QB. Unless the plan is to use him in running situations, not sure he would have seen the field much given the way Conklin has been playing so far.
