Tough one tonight, well at the end at least.
Down 9 with over 12 minutes to go, and I was feeling pretty good considering that we really hadn't played all that well. We'd been close to getting back into it all night, so hey, maybe a stop or two and some buckets and we can get within 3 or 4. Then the wheels came off the wagon. Actually, that doesn't really describe what happened. The wheels came off the wagon, then the wheels were then fastened together into a hammer, and the wagon was beaten to death with said hammer.
OSU is a good team. They were constantly able to make that extra pass that resulted in a ton of easy hoops. It was interesting to see our defense change at the half. Less open 3 pointers, but way more close in looks for OSU early in the 2nd half. Their tally of 27 assists does not surprise me.
OSU's 3-point shooting was unreal. Yeah, we gave up a ton of open looks, but some of the shots in the 2nd half were pretty deep shots. 60+%. Damn, that's some shooting.
Tapscott was a beast tonight. However, he looked whooped near the end of the game. Why do we not see more minutes from Cataldo? He's not going to be a force this year, but the kid needs minutes to develop, and hopefully he can take some pressure off of Tapscott on the defensive end when Nate is sitting.
Teef shot well, but we need more assists from our point guard. Period.
By the way... That JR Cunningham for OSU is a highlight film waiting to happen. Not sure if anyone saw his reverse alley oop dunk the other night, but he had a missed dunk tonight that would have easily been espn top ten.
Onward to a victory in Fullerton...
