Portland State vs Xavier - Fri. March 20th 4:25 PM

During JD, Polis and Murrays 2 years at PSU the team went 46 - 20, considering where this program was before they come through the Park Blocks, all I can say is thank-you. JD, in particular, has help put the PSU Vikings on the basketball map and I for one will miss him playing for the Green, white and black.

Amen.

Sad to see JD and Murray play their last games, but they have done more in two years for this program than words can say.

I was going to log in to write the same thing about these guys. They sure helped build something special.

My favorite memories of the seniors....

JD with the double pump three pointer to beat Northern Colorado

Andre's alley-oop, (one of a few huge dunks he had) I think against Seattle

Mickey hitting all those threes against the Huskies last season

It is hard to see a tough loss in a game like this, but from what I have heard PSU has some good kids waiting in the wings to step up and fill the shoes JD and Murray leave when they graduate. This years freshmen, sophomores and juniors have tasted the success of this season and need to work to harder next year. PSU has moved from a 16 seed last year to 13 this years, they can only go higher. They need to continue their winning ways and Bone needs to stay and continue the philosophy that turned the team around. This is not the end...Once upon a time there was a bunch of snot nosed from a school named Gonzaga who burst upon the basketball world and soon became respected perrinial members of the NCAA tourney.... Now it's PSU's turn.

Great season guys. Congrats on winning back to back Big Sky titles.

Thanks, wish we could have represented a little bit better, but you have to give it to Xavier, they are a heck of a team.

I'm not really sure why Portland State tried to win this game in the half court. Xavier had a monster size advantage and it was pretty clear going in that the Musketeers wouldn't have much trouble scoring inside. However, Xavier was one of the worst teams in the nation in turnover margin. This seemed to be a perfect situation to break out the press, yet I don't recall seeing it. Xavier only ended up with 7 turnovers, less than half their average.

Xavier really concentrated on shutting down our first half success in the second half. That concentration was JD. Smaller teams need to hit shots. We didn't hit our shots, and it got out of hand in the second half.

So I saw pictures from the game and noticed that we had a band there??? It's not the usual band that's been playing at basketball games...where did they come from?

Last year in Omaha the athletic dept. rented the CSN Matadors' band for the game, and put PSU t-shirts on them. They likely did a similar thing this year.
