Portland State

Okay, well, like a few weeks ago, we need to win Saturday night against Portland State. I think PSU would have been a contender this year if Braxton Tucker didn't go down with an injury (that is what I am assuming, but he has had a history with Red Face). Nonetheless, the vikings can score. They are a very good offensive team, but the not the best on defense. Last night ISU slowed down the game and probably played a lot of zone. We should be able to score inside better and get to the hoop, but so will they. Whichever team plays the better defense tomorrow night will win.

We are going to find out how we do under pressure. From this point on, all of our games are must wins.

REBOUND, REBOUND, REBOUND.

Wow, Portland's jumbo tron is obnoxious.

I've long maintained that what they do with that jumbotron is criminal. They crank up the light and obnoxious graphics when opposing teams are on offense on that side of the court.

I can see a loud student section, or the band behind the opposing side's bench, but there are limits.

Just terrible.

The best thing I can say about that game is that we had to have it, and got it. It wasn't a thing of beauty.

I'll take the split on the road.

Let's get home and settle things down. :coffee:

Ugly win, but it was a much needed win and we got it.

Yes that announcer was bad. The big sky is full of them.

As far as officiating yes they are bad. Parsons is a great player but over half of his and ones came with zero contact

It's a good thing Portland State shot 1-13 from beyond the arc cause they out scored us like a bajillion to not a bajillion in the paint. Gotta shore up that defense.

Now let's come back home and take care of bidness

At least a half dozen fouls called against us showed no contact on the replay. I didn't listen to their announcer, but I got to believe that he was chuckling under his breath at some of those calls. At the end of the overtime, they finally got a charge call right. They blew a few earlier in the game. I wish we could get some home cooking like that on our floor. Braxton got smacked in the face while shooting and got no call.

However, the refs are not the ones who allowed layup after layup, dunk after dunk. Our D stunk. :twocents:

Agreed. However, it's worth remembering that Portland State has the highest scoring offense in the conference. Not an excuse, but just something to keep in mind. If we play defense like that in any of our next four games, against better defensive squads, we could be in trouble.

I feel like this game made our team a lot better. It's so hard to come back when your down on the road! I got to give credit to the entire team for stepping up and making the clutch plays at the right time.

Their broadcast had an add for a new basketball facility? I hope this is true. This would add a lot to the big sky. Portland is a nice city, and I would imagine, with a better gym, they could recruit some talent.

It's currently under construction and set to open in 2018. The existing gym/court will be our practice facility.
