I didn't think West played poor, but we definitely got a spark when Hennessy came in the game and his movement really created some plays for us. I thought West was a little tight on his movement and although he made some nice throws, Hennessy outplayed him in my opinion.

I'm proud that we put up 42 on Oregon and as I said earlier in the week, Cooper Kupp did prove to be the best player on the field, which is no small thing considering all the talent that took the field in that game!

I can't wait to see us against Northern Iowa.

Overall, a pretty decent performance despite the score. I new that we would have major problems containing the team speed of Oregon. I wasn't surprised at all by our qb play but it was still nice to see what everyone here already knew play out of the field. UO got away with a ton of holding and being in the neutral zone but i guess its too much to ask for that stuff to be called. Cooper Kupp is the best overall football player I have seen in 25 years of watching eastern football.

Agreed!

The offense certainly doesn't seem to have missed much of a beat. My biggest concern coming out of this game is injuries. We seemed to have a lot of them. Hopefully nothing serious.

Post game thoughts...

Kupp was heads and shoulders better than any receiver Oregon had

We just bitch slapped a top 10 teams defense

Good riddance VA, we are just fine in the first half it looked like Oregon took the wrong eastern qb

Oregon will score a lot on anyone

Our defense will fair better against lesser opponents and all our opponents will be lesser

The big sky is saying "uh oh"....

I can't disagree with anything you've stated. I've been posting on this site since spring ball that Hennessy was going to eventually be our guy because he is special. No knock on Gubrud or West. They are both VERY solid. Hennessey just brings a different skill-set to the table. Oregon had no answers for his Tony-Romo-like movement in the pocket. He's just that elusive and then he throws strikes on top of that. You can't really coach elusiveness. He did have the one int but that is to be expected for any freshman and I'm still not sure if the receiver got held or not on that play. This shouldn't come as any surprise to our fan base how well he played. He was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Washington as a senior and he was selected by Associated Press as the 4A Player of the Year in the state of Washington. As a senior, he completed 177-of-281 passes (63 percent) for 3,387 yards and 38 touchdowns. That is insane. You're now seeing that same type of talent at the collegiate level and to top it off he played amazing against the #7 team in ALL OF FBS. We weren't playing Cupcake University. I'm not sure who Baldwin will start going forward. West made some nice throws as well. I can easily see Baldwin sticking with West. All I know is things just got interesting and I'm very happy about our situation going forward.

it's a tough one to be sure. both seemed to have a very solid grasp of the offense. But after seeing him play, im not sure Hennessey isn't our guy. But it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Baldwin go with the upperclassman.

Loved both an play and expect to see Padron va 2.0...with Hennessey taking over later.
Just saw post game va presser....he looked a little woosie still.
We ran for over a 100 and 549 overall. ...but 731 against...there goes out defensive stats leading for the year.

It was a fun game to be at even if the result wasn't what we wanted. I thought both QB's looked very good and the offensive line held their own, think we only gave only one sack. The defense has a lot of work to do but it's hard to read too much into their performance against a team like Oregon.

Only 246 of those yards were passing but we gave up a whopping 485 rushing yards and didn't force a single punt. That said, we're not going to see the speed and depth again (I would think)!

Yardage wise, ya, they handed it to us. However, I fall into the category of "I liked what I saw by our D today." Here's why. Yes, they ran all over us. But, I loved some of the initial hits we put on them. Our guys weren't afraid to fly in there and unload on some of their studs. We just need to learn how to wrap up. I'm sure that will be coached all next week. But OVERALLL, I loved our attitude and mentality out there on defense today. I really believe we are headed in the right direction on that side of the ball.

West is probably the man for the remainder of this season and perhaps next but I think we may have seen a glimpse of the QB of the future tonight.

I really thought we showed a lot of guts... Which has been a hallmark of Beau's teams. I thought both West and Hennessy played very well and showed a command of the offense. Again, offense is clearly a strength while defense is a huge question mark.

I thought the D showed a lot of effort today, but some of the same problems of missing tackles in one-on-one situations cost us in a bad way. That said, giving up 61 to Oregon probably isn't as bad as it looks on paper. We still need to show we can nut up and stop the run.

Not a bad first game. Next week is still the litmus test, and it seems like we should have built some confidence from this game. A lot of BCS teams will lose to Oregon by much bigger margins.

Shit, wish we played WSU today... Might have beat them by 5 TDs!

What the hell is up with all the cramping? We are the crampiest team in history. It seems like every year, we see several players miss series early in the year. Has anyone else noticed this? These guys needs to be fueling on water and electrolytes the day before a game!

It is really puzzling considering these players are practicing in 90-100 degree weather all summer!

I can agree with that. Too many times tonight we had their guy in the backfield, but we didn't wrap up and let a 7-10 play yard happen.

Our guys need to study Seattle's "Hawk Tackling" video.

Yup, tackling was an issue...but to be fair, their RB's were a load, all of them. It's not even like our guys were out of position a lot of the time, they just couldn't wrap up on initial contact.

I think you might have something here.

I'm pretty sure VA has a concussion. He may be out for a few weeks.
