You don't need NIL money to win more than 1 game a season. I don't think you need NIL money at all except to make deep playoff runs and compete for a national championship.

I'd make the same argument with Eastern. I don't think there is any reason Best shouldn't be able to manage 6, 7 or 8 win seasons with the resources he has now.

Though they should probably be fully funding their scholarships. If Eastern can do it, they can. They have like twice the enrollment.



Well said brother. Coaching is everything at this level, AB just doesn't have it.

If Eastern was like a 8 or 9 win team on the cusp of making the playoffs or making the playoffs and losing in the first round then losing players to the portal to other FCS teams who can give the players money, then I'd be like we 100% need NIL money. But that's not happening though. We're having 4 or 5 win seasons.

This might actually be good for us. We can see how his offenses do in Big Sky play without actually hiring him and without Best breathing down his neck. Assuming Idaho's HC won't be dictating what he does offensively.
