Prediction Thread ISU 53 @ EWU 56 Eags WIN!

Short and sweet. Do what we do and win.

Two passing teams so there could be more time to score points. Not seeing 60 this week as we leverage the run for 250 yards on the ground. Could be close to 600 yards total though. :-) Brown looks ready to break off a kickoff return for TD. ISU's wider oline splits can be taken advantage of for middle blitzes and love former HS safeties Zamora and Gall dropping into coverage and disrupting from the hashes out with McCarthy, Havili, Hamlin making it hard on Arias or the run game with well timed middle blitzes. D Line has good game of keeping ISU O Line off our LB's, containing edge or penetrating on well designed stunts.

EWU takes it to the hapless Bengals.

beautiful sunny day mid 60 ' s for a perfect fall football game

ISU
Strength of schedule up to this point is 45

#5 in the Big Sky for PPG at 29.3
#2 in the BSC for Yds/G at 483.5
#2 in BSC for pass yds/G at 307.5
11 passing TD’s 4 INTs and 5 sacks
#5 in BSC for rush yds/G at 176 with 5 tds
#12 in BSC for points allowed a Game at 38.5 (29.75 is how many the D has given up a game)

ISU has the #1 running back, QB is ranked #2 in passing yds/g at 298.8 Has not given up a sack in two games

EWU
Strength of schedule is up to this point is 99

#1 in the Big Sky for PPG at 47.6
#1 in the BSC for Yds/G at 567.4
#2 in BSC for pass yds/G at 374
21 passing TD’s 3 INTs and 17 sacks
#3 in BSC for rush yds/G at 193.4 with 12 tds
#8 in BSC for points allowed a Game 33.6

EWU has #1 QB with pass yds/G at 361.6 #3 RB, big issue EWU has given up 17 sacks

I think that this is a trap game for EWU. EWU will have to take ISU serious and I don’t know if they will. ISU played EWU well last year in Pocatello but could not keep it together and lost 55-34. It was obvious last year that the youth and inexperience of ISUs D was a major issue. After seeing ISU shut Sac State down in the 2nd half, only allowing 7 points I think that the D is much improved over last year. I know Sac is not EWU but it is a good indicator. EWU has given up 17 sacks! The O line for EWU appears to be weaker than in years past and this could be a major problem Saturday.

I think this is going to be a shootout. I think that ISU has a better D than last year and the better O line. EWU has a lot of inflated numbers due to their easier schedule and I think that they are not as good as last year. ISU will be able to protect the QB and pass the ball. The o-line will perform the X-man will run the ball and grind out the clock when needed. EWU will give up more sacks. ISU is fired up and EWU has a target on their back. I think ISU gets the upset!

ISU 49 EWU 42

Eastern has the best OL in the conference. This is probably one of the best 3 or 4 offensive lines Eastern has ever fielded. The sacks number is misleading because we hold the ball in the backfield a lot, and we played the UW Huskies who have possibly the best DL in the country in Danny Shelton.

Eastern will score a lot against Idaho State. I suspect ISU's best chance of winning is to get their own offense rolling and exploiting the depleted secondary. You are right, it may be more difficult than it seems, looking past the Bengals would be dangerous. It can't really be called a trap game because it is our first home game in over a month plus falls between two lesser opponents in UC Davis and Southern Utah.

Fair enough considering your a Bengal Fan, but this isn't a trap game for EWU. Who are we looking ahead to, SUU?

This will be Eastern's first home game since August, the team is going to be pumped to be back on the Red. ISU may have an improved Defense, but Eastern's offense is LIGHT YEARS better than Sac's. I expect ISU to put up some points, but Eastern will put up a lot more.

51 - 28 EWU wins...

The reason I called it a trap game is last year ISU lost to UCD and SUU. So for most people ISU will be the easy school that not much thought is given to. As to EWU having the best OL that is a tough debate. ISU holds the ball a lot in the backfield but we ran the ball on Utahs 1st team D and did the same against USU. It will be a good game I wish I could make the trip but I will just have to watch it on Big SKy TV.

Idaho State wouldn't have many problems with UC Davis this year.... I think Idaho State is better than either UC Davis or Southern Utah, so this would be anything but a trap game.

ISU 49 EWU 42

Inflated numbers? We put up 52 on the Huskies, and would've been more had we not turned the ball over twice. The most any other team has put on them is #20 Stanford, who put up 20. ISU has played two average FBS, and got destroyed in both of them, and nearly lost to D-II Chadron State. Hell, Utah just lost to the Cougs.

ISU will put up points on our D to be sure, but EWU's offense will roll through ISU's D like a hot knife through butter.

EWU - 55
ISU - 38

Thankful we have Coaches not Fans running the show. Doubt our coaches are overlooking anyone.

You only beat Chadron by 5 and they put up 34 on you?!? You are beating your chest about your two wins, Chadron and Sac St, wow. I like Kramer, good coach, but ISU's football program is not close to Eastern's right now.

The Bengals get their first D1 win over a team not named Northern Colorado since 2009 and now they are going to come in and beat the #2 team in the country on their home turf. Not going to happen...

Trap game. It's possible...there's a few things like school starting that could maybe lead to that, but I kind of doubt it. We are coming off of three straight road games so you better believe that this team is going to be focused and fired up to be playing at home again, especially with all the students back. ISU will move the ball and put some points on the board, but the defense will get their stops and the Eagles will roll in front of another sellout crowd.

You do know UCD and Davis had good seasons last year, right?

That being said, I think this is a dangerous game for us as well as a chance for the D to follow up their Davis performance with a statement.

Gonna be a fun one.

IF our defense can get some early stops then I don't see this game being the kind of shootout that some are predicting. D gets some stops, and we should be able to put some points on them and then run the ball and wear them down in the second half. Even though that might be a big IF at this point, I saw some good things out of the D on Saturday that I hope they can build off of. If we can't get some early stops, then yes, it's going to be one of those 54-45 type games that we honestly don't really want to get into against a team like Idaho State.

My prediction is 38-27 Eagles.
