Prediction Thread Wk 8 Griz 16 @ Eagles 35 HUGE WIN!!

As scary as it looks on paper in August, the Eags have played a schedule that has prepared them for this game. Montana played Saint Franics and Mississippi Valley State, and lost to the two good teams they have played. I like the team that has been through the battles and prevailed. Eags 42 Griz 28

Cogent argument, well stated. :thumb:

Of course I'm picking the Eagles, here's why.
I don't think the Mt offense can keep up with the Eagles. Our offense has been tested by some of the better defenses in FCS and still comes away with 45-50 points against them. The Eagles started the season by scoring 45 on the Cougars. Then we hung 44 on NDSU which is known for its defense. The most on either team this season. On and on, we'll get our points. Eagles 50
The defense had improved steadily until the Bobcat game then gave up two easy TD's before holding them to a FG the rest of the game. If MT moves the ball it will be on big plays not grinding it out. Griz 35.
I don't know if it is my opinion or wish that Baldwin does not "take your foot off" and runs up the score, but he is probably above that, unlike Stitt last year.
Go Eagles!

Well in my opinion, when you're up BIG against a team like EWU who is always capable of putting an insanely inappropriate amount of points in a short time, you don't "take your foot off the gas". Leave no doubt.

The question for us is will the good Griz show up? If they do, they most certainly will keep up with EWU due to the fact that EWU's defense is, relatively speaking, not as good as Montana's defense. It shouldn't be an issue for Montana to get points. Now Montana's defense has definitely been suspect in the secondary so I don't see EWU having any problems being able to move the ball and scoring. I think this game will be a shootout and come down to who makes fewer mistakes and takes advantage of the opportunities given.

Whoever wins this game will win in between 3-7 points, and I'm taking Montana in this one (because I'm a homer, damnit!) :D
Yes that powerful defense held the might St Francis to 21 points, and not to forget the overwhelming defensive effort against powerhouse Mississippi Valley and Sac St holding both to 7 points. WOW
What happened when they came up against better than average teams like Cal Poly and No Arizona?
By half time the Griz will think there must be at least 15 Eagles on the field, 10 of them receivers.

We can't start slow in this game. If we let Gustafson get comfortable, and start picking us apart we could end up in a hole that we can't climb out of. Luckily in the other games the teams were not as talented, or they got conservative with their lead (NDSU and Northern Iowa). These guys won't let up if they get us down. I still trust the coaches and the will of this team, and we win 42-35 with the Montana fans crying foul about something. Oh by the way, FTG!

Defend the Red has been a hater all year....I guess it has worked out for the team, so keep on hating!

Yes he has, hopefully he is on to something.

Don't let superstitious behavior influence you; this is a talented and motivated team... but don't wash your lucky shirt just in case :-)

friggin funny off the Griz prediction thread:

Methinks the Eagles prevail 58 - 46 in a game with no punts and at least 1200 total yards of offense. Gage Gubrud gets injured in the second quarter but EWU brings in some chubby spandex-clad baton twirler from the drill team and she throws for 300 yards and 4 TDs in the 2nd half because Beau Baldwin is a friggin' QB guru.

Weather looks good for the start, then strong potential for rain in the second half, will be interesting to see how that impacts our 2nd half production.

48-38 Montana. I just can't see them losing 2 in a row.

Hope I'm wrong.

Glad to eat it. I did't think that our defense had it in them to play the game they did but they totally proved me wrong. I hope they continue to build on their performances of the past two weeks!

The defense has shown steady improvement over the entire course of the season. Time to get onboard, because this team has the ability to make a serious title run this year.
