Prediction Thread Wk 8 Griz 16 @ Eagles 35 HUGE WIN!!

I've been holding out on prediction this week...this game just always makes me nervous! No matter how good we've been and how bad Montana has been, this game always gives me fits. Mostly because of my passionate hate for the Griz and how losing to them is a black stain on any season!! After last year, the thought of another loss literally makes me queasy.

Offense - EWU
Defense - Montana
Special Teams - Toss up (both have looked suspect)
Coaching - I'll take BB and staff any day every day, period.
Home Field - EWU

No matter how you spin it, this game is going to be a shoot out, but I think this team is focused and hungry after last year.

EASTERN WASHINGTON EAGLES - 55
Missoula Monte's - 41

I predict this Griz OLineman Cooper Sprunk becomes famous.

Score 52-38...couple of big plays last 4 min of game ices it for Eagles.

Of course I'm picking the Eagles, here's why.
I don't think the Mt offense can keep up with the Eagles. Our offense has been tested by some of the better defenses in FCS and still comes away with 45-50 points against them. The Eagles started the season by scoring 45 on the Cougars. Then we hung 44 on NDSU which is known for its defense. The most on either team this season. On and on, we'll get our points. Eagles 50
The defense had improved steadily until the Bobcat game then gave up two easy TD's before holding them to a FG the rest of the game. If MT moves the ball it will be on big plays not grinding it out. Griz 35.
I don't know if it is my opinion or wish that Baldwin does not "take your foot off" and runs up the score, but he is probably above that, unlike Stitt last year.
Go Eagles!

I think you should listen to us geezers like clawman and my self. I think most of you are way to pessimistic I thinks our D is improving each and every week and we will hold them to under 30 points. That may look like a lot but we will score 7 times in this game. They will play us tough the first half and then we will take over. If it is raining then we will dominate from start to finish because they will not be able to cover our WR's on their breaks and it will be raining footballs.

Looking forward to just this type of game. Lots of talent all over the field and everyone has had a chance to play this season. Loving every minute of it; great positive message Ron.

Well in my opinion, when you're up BIG against a team like EWU who is always capable of putting an insanely inappropriate amount of points in a short time, you don't "take your foot off the gas". Leave no doubt.

The question for us is will the good Griz show up? If they do, they most certainly will keep up with EWU due to the fact that EWU's defense is, relatively speaking, not as good as Montana's defense. It shouldn't be an issue for Montana to get points. Now Montana's defense has definitely been suspect in the secondary so I don't see EWU having any problems being able to move the ball and scoring. I think this game will be a shootout and come down to who makes fewer mistakes and takes advantage of the opportunities given.

Whoever wins this game will win in between 3-7 points, and I'm taking Montana in this one (because I'm a homer, damnit!) :D

I agree with this, but think it will be EWU by 3-10 points.

48-38 Montana. I just can't see us losing 2 in a row.

FIFY.

The Griz lost two in a row in 2010, 2012, and 2015. In two of those 3 years, their second loss was to EWU.

But previous years' performance doesn't matter; EWU is a better team than the Griz in 2016.

52-31 Eagles. :thumb:

As scary as it looks on paper in August, the Eags have played a schedule that has prepared them for this game. Montana played Saint Franics and Mississippi Valley State, and lost to the two good teams they have played. I like the team that has been through the battles and prevailed. Eags 42 Griz 28
