Preseason Rankings

Yeah, 63% completion, 5900+ yards and 40+ TDs in unproven. Much moreso than the shrimpy brainiac UM transfer who's never taken a snap.

Your last warning; contribute meaningful football talk in the correct forums and stop spamming this site with your pathetic blathering, or take a time out. It's up to you. :coffee:

Yeah, yeah Alpha. We all agree. We're done. Not even sure why we're fielding a team. Now, go away...

Eag fans, know this... AG1 sits in his parent's basement with a wad of TP in one hand and a 2" rager in the other just waiting for someone to respond to his dumbass posts. It's his porn. Don't even start with him. You say black he'll say white. You then say white, he'll say black. Totally ignore him and he'll go limp and head over to Bobcat Nation to get it up again and will leave us alone.

Wow you guys just dont get it.

As a group there is no doubt in my mind the secondary is head and shoulders above last season. Our CBs as a pair are light years ahead of TJ and whoever played on the other side last year.

Also Padron isnt going to pan out for you guys.

You have had a good run with above average QBs and this is the year it doesnt work, he will get hurt or just not click, something is going to happen but he wont emulate Meyers, Nichols, or BLM. I know you guys already know that but I figured I would tell you anyway.

Noted for future bump.

Agree with your speculation on the Eagles record but would not be shocked if we go 10-1 either. Your final stmt is not really true, home field is a HUGE advantage. In the NC year everything went the Eagles way including the Bobcats losing to ND and we moved into the seeded position for home field advantage and the rest is history.
Go Eagles!

Kalm, since you are the only reasonable one here I am telling you that we wont miss TJ because Nate Harris is MORE talented than TJ and he is definitely faster. The only thing TJ has on Harris is size. So that side of the field is a wash. We have definitely improved the other side with Dennard, Murray, and Goodwin. When we need speed and size we can look to Justin Whitted who is coming back from an injury. All 4 of those guys are better than whoever played there last year.

Safety is stocked with Hermanson returning and newcomers Lebsock and Coogan and Tully who started there last year. We need depth there because Coogan wont make it through the year, he hits too hard and is already in a neck brace from leveling one of our TEs in a scrimmage.

Our defense will be better than it was last year.

Harris is 5'10, Kauf is 6'5, Herd and Edwards are both 6'3, I like those chances, I don't care how fast Harris is, If he is matched up on BK, we will throw it there every single down. It is laughable how you talk about how Padron is going to not pan out, yet your entire argument is based on a Freshman DB.

You talk about how you don't like our fan base, guess what, we don't care. We play the Griz once a year, thats it, we could give two squats about your team right now, we don't play you for 6-7 weeks. Things have changed the past 5 years, the Griz are no longer THE team in the Big Sky, they are just one of a number of top teams in the big sky.

We will see you in late September, until then, who cares...

I agree that home field advantage is huge, being seeded is really important. Since the system went to a seeding scenario, a seeded team has won the chipper every year. We would have to go 10-1 or 9-2 to receive a seed, thats why I don't like the 2 FBS games all the time, it hurts our seeding chances significantly.

Those 3 home playoff games in 2010 were an absolute blast, hopefully we will see more of those again this year.

Because I feel it is my God-given duty, I have to once again agree on the idiocy of playing two FBS games in a season. I think it builds enthusiasm to play a Pac-12 (or similar) team one time each year. But playing the Toledo's and Idaho's of the world does nothing except send us on the road to play a team that is very difficult to beat. There is no reason for it.

 If you keep telling yourself that enough maybe it will come true.

Not all transfers work out

Very true. However, at this time there's nothing to suggest that he won't work out, either. In fact, everything I have read so far has been very positive.

Sure, it's possible he struggles a little early on given a somewhat limited knowledge of the playbook and the fact that he missed Spring Ball. Mitchell really struggled his first few games in the system and by all accounts he turned out to be a hell of a Qb. :thumb:

These comments are made under the presumption that KP is actually named the starter for the Idaho game, which is not a given. IMO any of the three guys competing could probably start and run the offense very efficiently.

But Alpha, I think you're missing the point a little bit. When you have three consecutive All-American Qb's, two of which won the Payton Award, that's not a coincidence. It's a testament to the system. Baldwin is a Qb guy, and you can be sure that he knows talent when he sees it.

The bottom line is the coaching staff would not have brought KP if they did not think that he could perform in the Big Sky at a very high level. The coaches don't just bring in FBS transfers because they think those kids are somehow automatically going to be better players, they have to bring something to the table. This is a program that has historically brought in very few transfer players, at least as compared to many other schools....*cough* *Montana* *cough*

FWIW, it sounds like Vernon Adams isn't exactly ceding the starting job to Padron. Appears he's making his own case why he should start, or at least find a way to be an impact player from the bench. Never a problem having two very qualified QBs...

Yep. I called that one back in Spring ball. Some people think it's a given KP will be the starter. It isn't.

Like I've said many times before, even if Adams isn't the starter, they WILL find a way to get him on the field in some capacity...whether that be situational, or whatever. He's too talented to keep on the sidelines.

Playing Idaho I think is a good move. With our recent success, beating them would help further strenghten EWU football in the Spokane area. Actually, beating any FBS team would only help with our perception and gain more fans. But I do agree that playing two FBS teams isn't a good idea, even if one of them plays at the level of an FCS team.

Adams will see the field, he may not be named the starter, but he will see the field in some sort of role, he is too good not too. I see a possible "wild eagle" formation coming this year with Adams. Its nice to know that we have 3 quality QB's this year.

I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but we could call it the "Black Falcon." :D

Padron and Adams in the wildcat in the red zone, especially from 10 and in would be deadly. Padron has the size to punch it in, Adams with the speed, both with the arm.

We have too many great receivers, we need two QB's in the backfield and two balls. OK,OK, at least two QB's, let the defense figure it out. Safety's will go crazy. Up, back, Sh---t. This is going to be has fun a season has we have had at EWU. I still get excited about the running backs and the size of the holes in the line back in 97. They were semi-truck size!! This is going to be that kind of year.

he doesnt need to be any of those guys. He just needs to be Kyle Padron, and if he can play to his ability that will be enough.
