PSU loses offensive linemen

If you look at the roster on goviks.com, Peter St. John and Matt Gray aren't on it anymore. I believe I heard something about Peter having a kid and that may be his reason for leaving and Gray wants to play now so he probably transferred out to start somewhere. I believe they lost some others after spring ball like Sean Lugo who I think will wrestle after not getting a scholie like he had hoped. This definitely changes the depth and strength of the oline but will still be very young for next year. If anyone has anymore info than this please tell. Who will now start at RG?

I like the idea that if Kleffner could adjust to the next level soon enough he might be more physically ready that some of the other backups that I have seen. What do you guys think?

A thin O-line is worrisome. I can't believe that their is no way to get St. John back into the fold.

I thought about that too, but that's asking a lot from a true freshman. Fall camp will decide it.

True, but didn't St John get quite a few snaps as a true frosh? Or was he a RS?

This is not good news. A good football team starts with the offensive line. I hope the coaches and administrators are working overtime to get them back on the team.

An ex team mate of St John's say his skills are good but his attitude is poor. Maybe we're better off without him. Mouse may have made that determination.

I have alot of faith in Heerspink and Carvalho to get that O-line where it needs to be. Both of those guys are great players, Carvalho is very decorated with awards and achievements and Heerspink at 6'5" 310 has the the body and ability to be one of the best in the Big Sky. Realistically If teams are willing to overlook Carvalhos' height and if Heerspink has a dominant year we could have two O-lineman make it to the league. before you jump on me for that statement that is definitely a large if, but not impossible. With that kind of talent I think that they will at least bring up those around them.

Have the tight ends left the team or are they being moved to other positions?

Matt Nelson moved to linebacker.
Matt Leunen, still listed as TE, but wasn't he playing some slot?
Andrew Ramirez moved to fullback
Brent TenBruggencate, did he leave?

Others may have more information...

What are some thoughts on Carvalho moving to center? Big shoes to fill in Duff's spot, but Carvalho should be up to it.

I thought Leunen moved to a line position. Wasn't Glanville always comparing him to some former pro who'd made a similar transition?

You are right about what was said about Leunen, but I think he is a year away from being a starter, needs to add some weight and strength.

Brent is a talented guy and but for injuries would have been used a lot last year. I would like to know more about him, as well.

Brent TenBruggencate exhausted his eligibilty, and Luenen is being groomed behind Heerspink and could be a stud tackle of the future.
