PSU VS UM

Ditto to what GustaViking just stated. All I can say is wow and Go Viks! Huff was a warrior, Dominguez was the man and Morrison was the rock. Did I mention wow and Go Viks!

I'll go with the wow as well. ;-)

Good play by the Griz to get back into the game twice. That Martin is a helluva shooter.

The guys pulled some long minutes in the second half, but they had enough juice in the tank to pull it out.

NAU lost tonight to UNC. We're 1/2 game back in the win column.

Hey, ManOfVision, shouldn't you be at the game??

Believe it or not, sometimes work gets in the way of arriving to the game on time. No work, no donations to the Viking Athletic Fund. /users/31/07/37/smiles/269784.gif

I thought I'd throw some thoughts together...

Nice showing by the students. We need that type of attendance and energy every night at the Stott. They bring up the whole energy of the place. Andy Schantz and a bunch of the football team were really vocal.

It was a real entertaining game to watch. The refs seem to let the teams play at times and I think that made for a better game. Fairly low turnovers, good shooting, good free throw shooting; A good game.

I love it when we play with those spurts of energy basketball like in the second half where we seem to get all of the loose balls with our hustle. Reminds me of Heath's final season here. Unfortunately, we sort of go back into passive mode and let our leads slip away. I hope Morrison is okay. I heard he was spliting up some blood and was getting pounded on down on the blocks. Maybe just a cut lip, not sure. Nice to have Moore to come in for five minutes to give some starters a breather since Thomas is out.

Regarding the Griz, another tough loss for them. I think that's like five or six games that they've dropped in the final minute of the game. Martin is one heck of a shooter and was the reason that they got back into the game when we were up 15 early in the first. Great job defending Hasquet, who sweats more than any other player in the Big Sky Conference. He is their man on offense and we didn't let him get into to the game. Qvale is a heck of a defender on the block and will be the source of some frustration for us PSU folks for years.

Now MSU. Let's take care of business on Saturday...

Marty: I watched it on Big SkyTV, and listened to TJ on the radio web streaming at the same time (because there is inaudible volume levels on BigSkyTV), and I think it was Deonte who was spitting blood. It happened either when he got hammered on his dunk attempt and went down hard, and then shortly after that there was a mad scramble for a loose ball right in front of the PSU bench, which Tay got, and I believe Bone called a time out as he got possession. As they went to that time out, TJ said Tay was spitting blood.

GustaViking. I'll take your word for it, I'd heard the deal about Morrison second hand since I didn't see it. We were busy giving Tinkle a hard time. :-)

Speaking of Huff. He's everywhere. That guy puts team over everything and lets it all out on the line on every play. I DVR'd the game and had to take a look at his breakaway dunk when I got home.

Hey WiViking, I think you have a gift. What will the Superbowl score be?

Why, you placing bets? I'll give you a prediction, but if you win a bunch of money I want some sort of return

Just kidding. 34-27 NE. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Men's basketball preview
By: The Vanguard
Issue date: 2/29/08 Section: Sports
PrintEmail Article Tools Page 1 of 1 When: 6:05 p.m., Saturday, March 1
What: Portland State (18-9, 11-2 BSC) at Montana (13-14, 7-7 BSC)
Where: Dahlberg Arena in Missoula, Mont.
On the air: AM 910 KTRO (radio)

Probable Starters:

Portland State
G Jeremiah Dominguez
G Andre Murray
C Scott Morrison
F Deonte Huff
F Kyle Coston

Montana
G Ceylon Elgin-Taylor
G Ryan Staudacher
F Kyle Sharp
F Andrew Strait
F Jordan Hasquet

Stars:
Andrew Strait scored 22 points and pulled down 10 boards in the Grizzlies' overtime win at Idaho State last week. The senior forward averages 15.1 points in Big Sky competition. For the Vikings, Deonte Huff is second on the team in scoring, at 14.5 points per game, and the senior forward should be a major cog in Portland State's offensive attack Saturday.

Just a Taste:
The Grizzlies are coming off a controversial victory over Idaho State in which three Big Sky officials were suspended following the conference's review of the game. In the review, an incorrect call in the waning moments was identified. Montana is still fighting for a berth in the six-team Big Sky Tournament. Portland State defeated Montana at home 70-68, and will be looking to gain more momentum as the postseason nears.
