RECRUIT LIST

Hunter Smith, 6'6" 273# OL , Bothell HS (WA) has committed. He held offers from the likes of Portland State, San Diego, some Ivy League schools, Georgetown, and a preferred walk on invite at Washington State...

.....I agree with Tacoma5......silly question....when is the actual signing date in February ?....I liked "signed" versus "a verbal commit "......

The Idaho Statesman has confirmed, according to their list of Treasure Valley athletes that have made commitments, that Michael Davis, DeMonte Horton, and Jacob Pinkney, have all committed to ISU. Idaho's only got one Treasure Valley commitment so far. Sounds to me like this staff is really doing a great job recruiting so far.

That's great. Yeah this is a real nice recruiting class so far especially considering that back in late November we only had like 9 scholarships available due to expired elgibility.

It is hard to tell how many players we can scholarship this year with mission kids and being able to divide scholarships. We do not know who in this group is going on a mission, is a partial, or is a PWO offer. It does appear to be a good group. It is nice to win some battles against other league teams for a change. I was hoping for one more JC or drop down OL and DL to help those two areas right away. You can never have enough of the Big Boys.

Bengals - Do not mention JC or drop down players as some posters do not like those words. It gives them a headache. Lol. PBP said no way coach Phen will sign more. I would have signed six JC or Step downs this season for At Need positions. Two on DL, one on OL, one at LB, one at DB, and one at receiver. My wish will not come true but at least I participated in the discussions.

Great point bengals, your right with the dividing of scholarships and PWO and mission guys it is hard to tell. There is also the "gray shirt" thing. I remember two years ago when ISU signed Drew Cash to a LOI on signing day, he never even came to campus in the fall of that upcoming 2016 season. He didn't come to campus until last summer I believe. So while he signed his LOI for 2016 Class he obviously did not count as a scholarship for the team for 2016. I guess that is always an option for the program to do with some recruits as well. I am sure a player or two will transfer or simply not return to football after spring semester due to a variety of reasons as well. Some of those returning Mission players from two years ago have to possibly be factored into the available scholly count as well.

we could still get a drop down guy after spring ball as well like we did last summer with Yancy and Amos.

one thing to consider about a drop down, not all FBS drop down guys were necessarily on scholarhip at the FBS school they left. Some are possibly PWO guys at that FBS school, so the staff possibly tells them, yes you are welcome to transfer here but you have to walk on.

"PBP said no way coach Phen will sign more."[/quote]

Incorrect.

I passed along what I WAS TOLD by people in the football part of the operation AND from what Coach himself said on the coaches show.

I never said they wouldn't sign more. I DID say that if you think they are going to sign JUCO's in bunches (six, eight, 10) that wasn't going to happen and based on what I was told and what Coach himself said, that probably was NEVER going to happen.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing with me, but don't put words in my mouth that I never said.

PBP

.....Why "Hello PBP"......I was waiting for you to glance at this thread and read through the comments.....and catch ....and reply to....."Ups" comment.......

"Up" Your wish is not far off from what it looks like will happen. I believe we have the following JC's on campus right now - 1 OL, 1 LB, 2 DB's, and 1 DL. Plus the drop down kid from BSU who was a walk on for them so not sure if he is on scholarship here. He is also a DB. So no receiver like you wanted, but I think DB is a much bigger need. I think you and "PBP" are closer to agreeing then you realize.

Bengals = did we lose a guy or two from the JC ranks?? Last year we had Ryan Gray and Paea Moala at LB from JC, Kory Garcia and Justin Dorsey at DB from JC and Mike Goggin at QB from JC.

The JC's I am talking about are new to the program this Spring. Most JC's arrive in the Spring and take part in Spring Ball.

Bengals - yes, another DB is needed. What people hear and what coach Phen actually does maybe different. I think a few more will be signed soon if he feels there is a need. He needs a 500% or better record this season or fans will wonder what is going on with the program especially after coach Kramer recruited for six years. We should be winning by now.
