"Up" Your wish is not far off from what it looks like will happen. I believe we have the following JC's on campus right now - 1 OL, 1 LB, 2 DB's, and 1 DL. Plus the drop down kid from BSU who was a walk on for them so not sure if he is on scholarship here. He is also a DB. So no receiver like you wanted, but I think DB is a much bigger need. I think you and "PBP" are closer to agreeing then you realize.

"PBP said no way coach Phen will sign more."

Incorrect.

I passed along what I WAS TOLD by people in the football part of the operation AND from what Coach himself said on the coaches show.

I never said they wouldn't sign more. I DID say that if you think they are going to sign JUCO's in bunches (six, eight, 10) that wasn't going to happen and based on what I was told and what Coach himself said, that probably was NEVER going to happen.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing with me, but don't put words in my mouth that I never said.

What you may hear or have been told can change over a few days. You said to me that I would be disappointed to think Coach Phen would bring massive numbers of JUCOs based on what you heard or told. I never said that Coach Phen should bring in massive numbers of JUCOs. I said I would be happy with six. Is that a massive number? Maybe to you or Coach Phen that is a massive number, I do not know, but you indicated six is a massive number. To me, that is a reasonable number. He has already signed two JUCOs and has a Step Down coming into the program from BYU.

Up: Here is what you wrote: "PBP said no way coach Phen will sign more."

That is flat out wrong, I never said that and you know it. I think you are trying to move the goalposts.

I stand by my opinion, if you think ISU is going to sign 6, 8, 10 JUCO's every year or every other year (as I've stated on these boards before) you are going to be disappointed. That is not Coach's style or attitude. He specifically said on the radio show the issues surrounding getting JUCO's into ISU.

I don't agree or disagree with that philosophy, I simply pass along what the man said and I've been told specifically on this particular issue which you bring up a great deal. My sense is that you feel this will go a long way towards turning ISU into "a consistent winner" (your words...).

I personally disagree with your opinion in this matter...ISU's issues run a lot deeper than a bunch of JUCO's can fix.

Just my opinion.

PBP - you are right. I said it wrong in error. I do not know if I buy into the issues getting JUCOs into ISU. He just signed two. It is all about qualifying into ISU whether it be high school recruits or JUCO recruits. Red Shirting is his choice once they are on campus.

The transfer is not Kirby. Don't have his name just know that he was a transfer from BYU and is a DT. I know the staff has been very active in offering recruiting transfers both step down and JC. Have offered a couple of linebackers, Dl man, DB's, and OL. A couple are still in play and may be here this weekend. This has been a very good class so far and look for a strong finish. Coaches were pretty clear about getting better in the defensive back field, and getting bigger and more physical on the OL and DL at the conclusion of the season. We will see. They think we are much closer to competing for league title than most people realize. Which is why you are probably seeing more transfer types this year. Go Bengals

SLCBengal = two more nice gets for ISU. Love seeing us win recruiting battles over FBS teams like Fresno State and Marshall and over big sky teams like Montana state in these two scenarios of these two players. Great job by the staff this year in getting commitments from a real nice group of players. Gosh and this is in a recruiting cycle where we only had very minimal scholarships available due to graduation, next season and the following season recruiting is going to be outstanding with large amounts of scholarships available due to graduation

This staff has really elevated the level of recruit we are going after and in some cases getting. It has been a long time since we have really gone head to head on recruits that other Big Sky teams were offering also. With what appears to be a real off-season program going now, we will have a chance to develop these players even more once they are on campus. You never know how a class really is until a few years in the program, but this group certainly appears to be a step above what we had previously been signing.

...SLCBengal...or votb, skippy, etc ...I'm thinking that the young man from Florida...Terron Carey....is maybe a brother....at least a relative ......of Terrance Carey...who Kramer got ...came as a transfer from a Florida school ( Florida or Florida State I'm thinking).....Terrance was a VERY productive "Big" for us.....lets keep our fingers crossed.....I worry sometimes when we recruit someone from a long ways away....different environment, homesick, etc....but I would think Terron would know what to expect....especially if he is related to Terrance.....

Good catch! I believe you are correct...

ISUBengals.com: Terrence Carey Bio

Beat out another big sky opponent for this commitment. Even better that he was from right in PSU back yard. I love it.

It will be interesting to see how many of these kids are going on church missions. ISU appears to have so many commitments compared to scholarships available. Unless they plan on unloading a number of players by the end of spring. I can’t imagine that because of APR.

If they are missions kids, we may not ever see a good amount of these guys. It’s hit and miss, but when it hits, it worth it. When it doesn’t, the class looks good on paper, but it never really materializes.

I agree. Posters never discuss the mission kids topic. How many mission kids signed over the last 10 years and how many mission kids have actually suited up over the last 8 years? I would be curious how many actually became starters over the last 8 years? Maybe, PBP knows the answer with his contacts.
