Reed Doughty is not in the Madden 08 game. Is he not part of the players union or something? They usually have all of the teams draft picks on the roster and they left him of last season. I figured he would be on this season and he is still not part of the game.
That's sort of strange. I was going to ask you about Reed's status because you're closer to 'Skins camp. Hope he still makes the squad, but it will be difficult this year because they drafted another safety in the first round in April. Reed and his wife have a sick child and I am sure they need the $$ to help out.
Reed played against the Ravens this weekend but the game was shortened because of power outages (storm related). He made an nice open field tackle and then followed it up with another on the next play (though they onle gave him an assist). He was playing on the punt coverage as well (one of the players that stands closest to the punter). He looks to be playing well and the other back-up safetys are not standing out at all. I think he will make the squad again. It got anoying that the TV anouncers were pronouncing his last name doh-dee.
On the Redskins official depth chart for the last preseason game Reed Doughty is listed as the only backup free safety. There are 3 backup strong safeties. I am not sure how interchangeable the SS position is with the FS.
SS 30 LaRon Landry 20 Pierson Prioleau 39 Vernon Fox 23 Omar Stoutmire
Yep, congratulations to Reed. I am really happy for him and his family. I will be going to the opening game against the Dolphins and look forward to rooting him on.
-- Safeties
Competition was strong among safeties, too. Sean Taylor and LaRon Landry make a formidable duo as the starters. Pierson Prioleau could be the first safety off the bench, since he can play both strong and free safety.
Reed Doughty, a 2006 sixth-round draft pick, had a solid preseason and is an emerging player on special teams. He will serve as Taylor's backup at free safety.
Vernon Fox and Omar Stoutmire were left to compete for the fifth safety spot. Fox won it in the end due to special teams play; he logged 26 special teams tackles last year.
