I went to my first home game during the 79-80 season, but I had no idea what was going on. I was a bit young. LOOOOOOOOOL!! I do remember games during the 80s, but nothing specific. It had to have been during the McCarthy era, because the place was always really full. I remember my parents parking really far from the East entrance because they wanted to get out easier. I do remember a game against Montana which Weber lost to in like 85 or 86. It was really close. I remember my mom saying a bunch of swears. I didn't know Refs weren't called SOBs till I started playing basketball.
When I was in elementary, I met Rico Washington after a Jr. Jazz game. Kinda weird, but all the guys I played Jr. Jazz with went to Weber games, so we all knew who he was. Sad that isn't the case so much anymore. I think its because our sports marketing is the shits, but...To me it was one of the coolest days of my childhood. He signed autographs for us and played some hoop. Really nice guy.
Personally, my favorite games were during the Abegglon era. I remember Elroy Miller, Robbie Johnson, Kirk Smith, Al Hamilton, Ruben and Lewis, and Andy Smith. I was heart broken when Weber got killed by Purdue at the Dee, and how the Cats barely lost to Purdue at their place the next year, when they didn't have Glenn Robinson. Nonetheless, I can say that I have been a Weber State fan my entire life. Nothing better than watching the Cats. Screw the Jazz (yeah Cheese, I went there), I'd much rather watch the Cats play.
I do have a bunch of road game stories (I've been to far more road games than catdbagcat, I'm a bigger fan than him, since he is a total wanking sod tosser), where bengalhater and I went to. It was weird being at B..Y..U without bengalhater, I guess I will have to get use to it. He can never get a kitchen pass. But, I digress...anyway, there were a lot of fun times. For instance, he was escorted off the Rose Garden floor during the 08 Semi-final game. LOOOOOOOOOOOL Buzz Cut tried to fight him.
