Ouch. I've always had this inkling that Barnum was a lover, not a fighter, but now we know.

I trust (hope) the staff and team have had their sit down and digested this and are able to move forward without distractions. This kind of thing happens a lot in all kinds of organizations, but this affected person's spouse, having been a part of PSU, has really taken a visceral approach to the situation. I hope the coach can find it in himself to reach out if he hasn't already done so.

I think one would be hard pressed to find a good situation that ever comes from flirtatious behavior between two married people in a work environment.

So dude finds text messages on his wife’s phone and goes to their employer. I’m certainly not in his shoes, but if I were (which certainly would never happen), I think I’d keep this between me, my spouse, the other person and their spouse. How this bad situation is made better by it being public and now having a lawyer involved is beyond me. However, having not been in his shoes, I’m not privy to the emotions that come with a situation like this, or any other details that were not disclosed.

Ugh. Not good. Especially with the season starting in eight days, which should go without saying…

What a wonderful first impression our coach and the athletic department have put forward for our new President's consideration. The program and department will suffer.

Simple. $$$

If this is the whole story (and Kerry Eggers and the Tribune have been a great outlet for PSU athletics), I'd have to say it is pretty mild compared with what has been going on with other Big Sky institutions, as well as other Oregon state schools. However, if we are going to continue holding our athletic teams higher that those other schools, we cannot simply ignore something like this. I think PSU has taken the appropriate measures based on what is known now. If something else comes up about it, then it must be addressed right away. I think Barnum's punishment is fair and just and right, subjected of course to any other issues from this.
