I LOVE THIS!!! With the former players stepping up like this, I think we will gain some real momentum. "Build it, and-they-will-come!"

Go eags!

To All,
Saw Mike Jarrett and Paul Farrell play FB, and both were very good. I am glad to see they are really doing something to help us get the damn Project off the ground. Just hope some thing really get something going while we still have some life left us Old Farts need to have something to keep us wishing for some big on our Renovation. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you two Men. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

To All,
Donated my last $500.00 to Football Excellence Fund this year, making a total of $2,000.00 this year for FB, now I will work with the other parts of Athletic Program and donate to their programs also. I am fortunate to have worked for this University, something I am very proud of. Two jobs I had in life the US Air Force/EWU, is why I am in the position I am today. I hope none of don't think I am bragging, just want to say what I am doing for our Coaches, Players, Programs, and University. Let us all try for our Renovation and keep everybody HAPPY. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

Thanks for the support of the athletic programs and being a positive voice in the EWU community! I hope to someday reach your level of support!

PDX,
Thanks you very much for the kind words. Heard today from personnel that lots 9 & 16 are on the chopping blocks, the are supposed to be used for Roos Field Renovation/Gateway Project. Was on Campus watching some of the Volleyball Camp when I heard this. Will keep my fingers crossed, an hope the project is still on a lot of people minds. Glad to see some of our Former Players have launched an "EFN" (Eagle Football Network). Have to check it out and see what is out there for us. This is a way to help support our Football Program. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

For those of you that are going to the red tie gala tonight, Please find the AD and and press him and the rest of Adm. to give us a new plan for the stadium? Why not something like the metal stands at the Fair grounds. Those have got to be less than 60 trillion?

Roos made this list and I have seen it on others too. I think the atmosphere is awesome at Roos, it is a lot of fun to be there on game days and the turf makes the place special, but the Eastside ugh. Still nice to be on the list.

Just listened to this week's podcast with Larry and Chaves. Some discussion about the topic.

Thanks for the link, but It's disappointing that the Eastern Washington Athletic Director can't think of any thing other than "Bill Gates donating $1 million" to get the Eastside Expansion done. The previous athletic director found a way to get the Press Box and endzone seating done, but Bill Chaves can't think of one way to get fundraising?? What are you doing in Cheney? That's Cheney Washington's number one necessity.. Eastside stands, infrastructure, parking & entryways for Roos Field.

Cal Poly got their expansion done, UC Davis got a BRAND NEW stadium done, NAU got their renovation done, Montana state got a HUGE end zone seating expansion done. Montana also got a second deck built. Wait..... A second deck on an FCS stadium?? Yea! Montana got it done. Beau Baldwin brought a National Championship to Cheney 7 years ago and Chaves still can't bring funding... :ohno:

edit: I've changed my mind on giving up hope. GoEags! :)

Yeah... That was very cryptic! lol

CWU is moving forward with phase one of stadium upgrades to their Tomlinson Stadium. Total cost of $8 million.

“This is something they have been talking about for a long time,” Shoemaker said. “It’s great to see the Board of Trustees jump on board and say it is a priority.”

When the university first explored the idea of making upgrades to Tomlinson Stadium, a stand alone track and field venue would cost $4 million and then the upgrades to turf, lights, perimeter fencing, new dates and upgrades to the restroom facilities would cost an extra $4 million.

Schactler said that the CWU Foundation has committed to funding up to $4 million for the updates to Tomlinson, however, the university is exploring several funding alternatives for the new track and field venue.

Director Chaves hasn't said he's not doing anything toward locating funds. Could be, he's contacted Gates and other possible supporters. Director Chaves and the consultant are currently formulating an appropriate design and a plan to fund it. Go Eags!

To be fair, our previous AD had secured funding for the stadium improvements. Phase I was the pressbox and endzone seating. Before the first phase was over, we'd pissed off the donor so bad he withdrew funding. The AD was left holding the bag on the improvements already underway. It took several years to pay off the work and it all came out of the department's pockets.

That doesn't change much.. it still needs to happen post haste. It is incredibly frustrating to see our peer institutions- and even lower institutions- have such little problem moving the needle while we've gone nowhere.

Here is the money quote from the CWU article:

“I was just at a high school facility a month ago and that facility put ours to shame. Are we really offering an optimal experience? Are we offering our alumni an optimal experience? This is a basic level of service to bring an academic adequacy of these facilities.”

The other key piece I extracted was they made this announcement 4 days ago and plan to have it completed by next season. Good for them.

I'm not sure what the answer is at Eastern, but everytime I hear about it, I keep hearing this concept of "premium seating" being the priority. I disagree. The first hurdle to clear is adding substantial capacity and general aesthetic improvement. The big money guys can still get their box on the Westside. We need to get to 12,500 at a minimum, and frankly, erector set high rise bleachers would at least solve the problem of such limited capacity and the terrible image of a one-sided stadium. It's not ideal, but it's fairly safe to say reaching the "ideal" is not an option... at least not in the immediate future.
