ROOT Sports Big Sky Conference TV schedule release - 5/6/14

In the past, it all depended on how many times we played Montana or Montana St., since they were on every weekend. Hopefully that mindset is changing as the shift of power is underway, and EWU is an exciting team to watch.

And the red turf continues to be a good talking point to promote an upcoming game.

I think we'll have 3, with a possibility of 4 like last season.

These will probably be a given:
Sep 20 @ MSU
Nov 8 - Montana
Nov 21 @ PSU...gotta check and see if this is the same date as Montana/MSU, if so, probably a no-go.

That leaves a big gap between the 20th of September and the 8th of November, so I think maybe the Idaho State or Northern Colorado games might be on Root.

Additionally, SHSU will be on ESPN and Washington on the Pac-12 network, so lots of opportunities for watching Eastern on tv this year (good for out of state guys like me). :thumb:

We are going to get the shaft this year. Montana plays North Dakota State at the same time we play MSU, so we won't be aired then. MSU vs Montana is at the same time as EWU vs PSU, so we won't be aired then either. The only guaranteed airing will be EWU vs Montana. We might get EWU vs SUU, but that is a little doubtful.

Montana versus NDSU won't be on Root - Root only airs Big Sky games, and that's obviously a non-conf game. More likely that game is on ESPN2 or Gameplan. I'm about 90% certain EWU @ MSU will be on Root, as will UM @ EWU. So *bare minimum* only two; more likely 3, with a possibility of 4 like last year. Root really likes the Eagles.

montana playing north dakota the same day as our game with MSU actually increases the chances of our game being broadcast on Root sports quite a bit. Root only shows Big sky games and likely wont have the rights to that game especially since it will be played in Fargo. I''ll say we will get 3 games on root this year, Montana, MSU, and one other.

Via Twitter 9/20/14 At MSU and 10/25/14 at NAU

at the time of this post they have not announced a 11/8/14 game but its a good bet UM at EWU gets the nod.

I should have waited 30 seconds. Just announced 11/8/14 game UM at EWU.

Three games on Root plus the SHSU game on ESPN and UW game on Pac-12 network. I love the exposure that brings!!!

Go EAGS!!!

i guess i should have waited 10 more minutes. 11/21/14 at PSU also on Root. 6 games on TV next year!!!

Full Schedule
9/20 EWU @ MSU
9/27 NCU @ UM
10/4 UC Dav @ PSU
10/11 MSU @ UC Dav
10/18 NAU @ PSU
10/25 EWU @ NAU
11/1 Sac St @ UM
11/8 UM @ EWU
11/15 ISU @ MSU
11/21 EWU @ PSU
11/22 MSU @ UM

EWU, UM and MSU get 4 games each, PSU gets 3, NAU and UC Dav get 2, NCU, ISU and Sac St get 1. Cal Poly, WSU, NDU and SUU do not get any games on Root.

4 home games is nice and based on the viewership, MSU and UM also deserve 4 games as they will draw better ratings.

Only problem I have is only 1 of our games is a home game, and that one is a given, UM. PSU gets 3 televised home games?!? I guess we don't have a lot of strong opponents at home this year but how does PSU get 3 televised home games and cal poly none?

So I read the press release from Eastern, and had a question.

Root keeps being mentioned as one of "the DirecTV Sports Networks." Did Fox sell off just the NW version? I know all over the country, all the Fox Sports Networks are still intact.

Or is this some sort of joint venture... like NBC re-branding Comcast Sports and OLN under their own banner?

If anything, it would seem like Fox would have the financial capital to buy DirecTV, not the other way around unless Fox just wanted to divest one small piece of their national puzzle.

Also, strange fact, every single Eastern game was broadcast live in the Spokane (E Wash, N Idaho) markets during the regular season except the Toledo game (ESPN3) and Idaho State. However, only ONE of the 3 playoff games was broadcast live to Spokane. The other two were only available on ESPN3.

Props to SWX and Root Sports for showing the Eags.

I don't see that as a problem, home games being televised locally could hurt attendance. Of the 12 game schedule six are home games and three away games televised that gives local fans 3/4 of the games can be viewed.
Good day to be an Eagle
