Round 2, - Semifinals versus Weber

Beardown

We torched them at the beginning of the season when we were playing our best basketball, but lost at their place. If we play like we did last night for most of the game, it could be interesting.

I still don't think we've played our best basketball, but damn, you guys scare me. I really hope Unruh and Svihovec aren't shooting lights out today. Hopefully you guys are a little tired from yesterday and we can get 8000 Weber fans at The Dee tonight.

Looking forward to a tight, VERY competitive game tonight!

Yep, those 2 need to be hot, play really aggressive defense, no turnovers and hit our shots ! Is that asking too much ?? Go Bears

The odds are stacked against us, even if we are on our A game. Stranger things have happened though.

Just the build up to this game has me physically sick to my stomach and my kid isn't even playing yet... This will be a tough match up for the Bears but not impossible...

Well, crap. A well fought game by both sides.

Good luck to Weber State in the title game.

They played well, better than I thought, I'll eat crow on that.

They had the shots twice and couldn't hit it, they just never seem to be able to make that last shot ever. It kind of always felt like they'd lose.

Well, if you have to lose, I guess that's the best way to do it. Until next year Bear fans...

I don't know, in a lot of ways that's the worst way to do it. Part of me wishes we just would've gotten blown out. Not all of me, but a part. Good luck to whoever represents the Big Sky in the tourney next week, and just try to do better than Montana did last year (LOL).

congrats on the season. i dont know if we could have could got past you guys away from home. great game to watch. you have played in the semis in 4 of the past 5 seasons which is pretty impressive since you only went DI in 2006. see ya next yr.

You could probably just fire up half-court shots and do better than my Griz did in the NCAAs last year. :ohno:

A disappointing but valiant effort last night. Damn, we were so close ! Oh well its not over, the CBI will be in town next week. Hope a bunch of people will show up. Go Bears

I have never understood the appeal of the CBI. If you are not good enough for the NCAAs and if you are not good enough for the NIT then you might be good enough for the CBI. What's the point? I would rather have the student athletes concentrating on their studies rather than some made up tournament that means nothing and designed for coaches and ADs that cannot accept the fact that their teams aren't good enough...

I am sure it means something to the Seniors who will extend their playing career a few games longer. They will probably be their last competitive basketball games they will ever play.

The CIT tourney meant a whole lot to WSU last year, it gave us 4 quality opponents that we normally wouldn't get to play against. It also gave WSU extra practice time for their young players especially which ALWAYS helps for the nest year.
As for last nights game, DAMN!! One hell of a game and great effort by both teams, that game was worthy of being the Championship game on ESPNU.
Whichever tourney WSU and UNC ends up in respectively , I hope they both look to kick some ass!

Don't you buy your way into the CIT? I agree, if you don't get into the NCAA, or the NIT, you should just go home. It sucks for the seniors, but oh well, buying into a tournament that no one cares about winning doesn't benefit anyone, and I am sure that the 30K it cost to buy in could go to a better cause for such a small school with no money to waste...

Um... Not really.

I was at UNC's second round CIT game a few years ago. Everyone was still out in full force, and that game probably had the best atmosphere for UNC game that I have seen in recent years. So to say that it means nothing to anybody is just idiotic.

I stand corrected, they do not pay to get into the tournament, but, do pay to host it. So, I am sure paying for the home court advantage doesn't possibly skew the results at all... Sounds legit to me... And while we are at it, tell me please, what does a championship in the CIT mean? You're the first place team out of all the teams that finished third or worse in their conference? Yeah, let's hang that one up for all to see... And just because you were at a game that you thought was fun, doesn't make the game any more valuable to anyone but you... Are you trying to say that since "Everyone was still out in full force" that the revenue for the team and school is worth the addition of the extra tournament? I still don't understand your argument for the point I made that this tournament means nothing other than just few more games for the team to play and get some of the younger guys in the mix against some mediocre competition. Valuable? Questionable... Fun and entertaining for simple minded people? I don't know, you are probably better equipped to answer that question than I am... So my comment about this tournament not meaning much may not be 100% accurate, I am sure it must mean something to someone, but idiotic?

Well said Godeev. The only one who can define "what it means" is Coach Hill and with the slid in the second half of the season it defies logic in my opinion.
