Sac St.

I've only been to the Hornets Nest once. It seemed to me, at least, that there were more Weber fans than Sac State fans at the game. I couldn't believe that it was a DI basketball court. Regardless of the size of their court, it might be small but the Hornets are fierce, Weber has to bring their A game on Thursday. The Hornets need wins. This is one of their best teams since joining the conference and they are on the cusp of not making the post-season tournament. Weber can't get out of control when doing it, but needs to push the tempo and not allow Sac to get into their half-court game. Solid defense, limit TOs, and play good team ball should be enough for the Cats.

I suppose it's easy to pull off a "White-Out" in a gym that seats only 1,200 people.

like Bengalhater --it might be small but it is fierce--

Yeah, Hawks it is rather pathetic. There are LDS Stake Center courts, here in Ogden that are larger.

i am excited for tonights game. the sac and nau games will be big games because they are the final home games for these teams with saturday night being senior night in flagstaff. these teams will be ready to go.

this is an impressive stat:

Weber State is efficient defensively as well, ranked first in the Big Sky in scoring defense (61.1 ppg).

i dont ever remember us having such a large scoring margin average like this.

Cat's gotta take care of business. One game at a time. We all know how much the Hornets would love to beat the Cats tonight. Weber has to bring their A game and do their best. No let ups.

Good thing that both games should have fairly large Weber State crowds. I know friends who will be at the game tonight and a lot more who will be at the game on Sat.

What happened to Joe Eberhard and Carbajal? I thought both of these guys would end up having better years. Good thing that Katz was able to find a SG to help make up the load of Eberhards Senior slump. As long as the Hornets have Garrity, I think they should be a fairly solid team. However, they really need some good bigs to keep them in a position to succeed and developing as a program.

I think McKinney’s output is why Eberhard’s stats are low. Well that and he is having a worse year than last year. Basically the ball has been in his hands less this season because we have a capable 2. Carbs has struggled all season but has had some good games where he has come off the bench and provided a spark. I would love to see those guys pick up their game in these final games but it’s hard to believe that will actually happen.

Looking ahead to next year our front court will be nothing but question marks (Dickson, Veteto, and Eberhard graduate). I have been unimpressed with some of the players that will be returning (Quigley and Salley) but we have a forward coming off a redshirt (Tiffin) and landed what looks to be a solid recruit at center (Stuteville). Anybody’s guess how it will turn out but we most likely take a step back.

its refreshing to have sac much better this year. they could finish 3rd still and like rahe said in the paper they are very close to having been a 10-11 win team thus far. during the rahe era sac has never finished better than last or 2nd to last. no big sky tourneys. too bad they have such a rough finale - weber, isu, @msu, @um.

DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER, I THINK IT WAS 2006, WHEN SAC WAS HOSTING WEBER IN THE BIG SKY TOURNAMENT AND LANCE ALLRED GOT HIS SECOND TECHNICAL FOUL FOR TAUNTING THE STUDENT SECTION? I THINK HE WAS BEING YELLED AT BECAUSE HE LOOKED LIKE "DRAGO" FROM "ROCKY IV" AND HE LOOKED AT THEM AND SAID "I MUST BREAK YOU!" :coffee: :coffee:
TAL IM SURE YOU REMEMBER WHAT WAS SAID BY WILDCAT CARL ARKY, I'VE FORGOTTEN... I THINK CATCAT WAS EVEN WITH US, MAYBE EVEN JIMMYD4THREE...
THAT WAS THE NIGHT I HAD A DATE WITH ME FROM "DREAMS END!" YYYYYYYYYYUCK!!! BIGGER BEARD THAN I HAD!!! :coffee:  :coffee:

It’s nice, but to be honest I expected more (I know, sounds absurd given our history) given the front court talent and overall well balance of our starting 5 coupled with our soft OOC schedule. Our weak bench has killed us this year and the overall inconstancy in output has driven me nuts. The losses that kill me the most are the blown leads at ISU (bad loss on a last second shot) and embarrassing collapse at home to NAU (up 14 midway through the 2nd half). Add a 1 point loss at UND in which we had numerous missed shots inside the paint throughout the game and the frustration level for us fans has never been greater. It's Katz' 5thyear, time to see some results. We have two of those games in the win column and right now we are talking about what seed the Hornets get instead of maybe getting in the BSCT. Absolutely frustrating. :wall:

sdhornet,

some of our board in preseason were predicting sac to finish 3rd so your not too crazy with the expectations you had. you had good players back plus 5 seniors and 6 juniors so i think it is reasonable to have expected a top 3-4 finish.

I didn’t think we would be that close, and to be honest I would be content with a middle of the pack finish and BSCT appearances given our woeful facility situation. I would just hate to see the most talented roster Katz has had go to waste if we miss the BSCT.

Have fun at the game tonight. The Nest can get rowdy when it is jammed packed and everyone is up on their feet.

Gotta say the Hornets announcer is one of the bigger homers in the BSC. Man Weber does everything wrong but the refs don't see it. I like how he talked about he can say anything, then slams the UND announcer?
