This game should happen. It is a shame if it does not. To much history. 15-15 serries record. Come on Sac State, Sac up.

Sacramento State has too many athletes for Cal Poly to handle. Don't bring up the past, face facts.
Why not prove it on the field instead of a message board? I think that the hornets are on the way up under their new coach. All the more reason to play this game.

I’d love to see CP and Sac play. As the only two remaining I-AA teams in the CSU system, the matchup should be grown in to a regular event between the universities. Sperbeck seems to have the Hornets on the right track, and a matchup against a good CP team would be exciting.

Whoa there slick. We've got some provin' to do before we can put ourselves in the same league as CP. Aren't you the one that went on the BSC Boards saying that SAC was going to be undefeated and win the NC this year?

I would go nuts for a 6-6 season (should we choose to schedule 12 games). I'm with you iSac.

I would love to see the Cal Poly series resumed. Seems to me that not too long ago the Poly game was second only to the Causeway in terms of attendance at Hornet Stadium. A couple of those games drew over 15,000 as I remember. I am sure that the athletic department would put Poly back on the schedule if both schools had the same open date, it's really a no brainer. Much of our flexability was taken away when Northern Colorado joined the Sky. The real problem seems to be that as the Big Sky expands we have more Conference commitments while Poly and Davis don't have enough games in thier league and are continually scrambling for games. The Great West Football Conference is unstable and and seems to be a league of convience, providing a temporary home for teams transitioning to FCS, or for teams trying to get into another leagues.
Poly and Davis are the exception with no other FCS choices on the West Coast. There has have been some people talking about Sac State joining the Big West/ GWFC but unless say Pacific, Fullerton, Santa Barbara, Northridge etc. added football that would be a huge mistake. Even though there is less regional interest/connection in the playing some of Big Sky teams as there might be playing more California teams, I think that Sac State has made a wise choice getting into a stable well established league like the Big Sky.

No offense, but lately Sac State doesn't have the talent to beat anyone let alone Cal Poly, prove it on the field before saying something like that.

We had the talent to almost beat you last year...just ran out of gas down the stretch.....

Didn't we have the same record in Conference last year! Our "talent" punished your quarterback for 57 minutes. We gave up a couple bombs late and lost a game that we dominated.

The arrow is definately pointing up at Sac State. I see Sac being in the top half of the Big Sky fighting for the playoffs in the near future under the new coach. All the more reason I want to see Sac State on future Cal Poly schedules.

SloStang, I really do miss having CP on the schedule. It's really good for our attendance and when we played in 2006, the game was amazing.

Good call, we should have won that game as we dominated.

There have been many amazing games over the years. The overall record being tied at 15-15 shows that. I remember the year that Cal Poly won the DII National Championship they played Sac State the in the last regular season game and Sac handed them their lunch. I think that the game is good for each teams attendance numbers. As Sac State continues to get better under Sperbeck, those number will only increase.

We need Sac State fans that want to see this game happen to start putting the pressure on the AD to make it happen. I think it is a game that is good for both schools. I know that the Cal Poly fans do not need to put pressure on the AD down here because I know she would love to put Sac State back on the schedule. Great attendance for home games, bus trip for the road games.

I know that is too late for this year, but hopefully in the future we will see this game happen.

Like I said, too many athletes. Cal Poly players looks like children compared to the Hornets. But yeah, the Stangs and Hornets need to get one going pretty soon. Who needs Humboldt on the schedule?

The most probable reason that Sac State does not play Cal Poly anymore is recruiting. When they do not play they can say they are better than Cal Poly because they play in a better conference (the Big Sky). It is hard to sell that you are better than Cal Poly when they have beat you the last four or five years. I think that once Sperbeck get's Sac State to the top half of the Big Sky I think they will resume playing Cal Poly. The good thing is I think that will happen very quickly under Sperbeck. The guy is a winner.

If that is the case why does Sac St. still play Davis? We haven't had too much luck against them in football lately although I predict that will change very soon! If Poly has won the last 5 games of the series and the series is tied at 15 Sac State must have been up 15-10 five years ago, not bad considering that Sac State was a nonscholarship program for many of those seasons while Poly had scholarships. The same goes for Davis and Poly.

People would be knocking on the AD's door if he did not play Davis. Not only that but Davis is the biggest attended game every year and money talks.

If you have read all of my post you would have seen that I have said that it has been a great serries and the overall record is proof of that. I think it is a shame that it is not still being played. Do you honestly think that if Sac State had won the last five they would not be playing this game? If you also read my post you see that I predict only good things for Sac State under the leadership of Marshall Sperbeck. I am excited about this because I think that it will lead to Sac and Cal Poly playing again. I am not a Sac State hater like most UC Davis fans. I want to see Sac State do well and for them to be on Cal Poly's schedule. I have family in Lodi and we always went to either the Sac State/Cal Poly game or the UC Davis/Cal Poly game every year. Now we have to settle on going every other year to the UC Davis/Cal Poly game.

If it were a simple matter of money Cal Poly would be on the schedule. Poly games are right behind Davis in terms of local interest and attendance at Hornet Stadium. As I said I don't think it is a question Sac State ducking Poly I think its a question of open dates since Northern Colorado was added to the Big Sky. I really enjoyed the Poly series and hope that it will be resumed, I was at a lot of good Poly-Sac games both here and in SLO. Some of my most enjoyable experiences at Sac State games was when we were playing Poly, St. Mary's and Santa Clara, they seemed to mean the most (especially to my friends and I who went to those schools!) but they were always good natured civil rivalries. Whoever won had bragging rights for a while and then we looked forward to the next season. The series with Davis is different and can be nasty, especially in Davis, were I have seen some pretty rude and childish behavior not only from the students but also from some of the older "adult" fans. Good luck to Cal Poly this season I will be pulling for you to beat those Badgers and of course those Aggies!
