Sac State

Well I'm positive this will be a good ol fashioned humiliating ass kicking. I'm also positive that the players think they have no shot of winning as well.

Strange.

Sac State has won @ Oregon State and against Montana (arguably their 2 toughest games) and have lost to Southern Utah, Weber State and Montana State.

They have had a really tough schedule and have come out of it with 2 high quality wins but are 2-3.

Maybe they will come in overconfident?

They're pretty inconsistent, just look at their record. However, they're much better than us and I expect another blowout. 50 something to 7.

I'm sure we'll score more than 7, we've been in the 20s against everyone but CSU.

Nothing is a sure thing with this bi-polar SAC team, but I expect a Hornet victory, 38-20.

Predicting anyone to score less than 40 against UNC is a waste of time.

Your defense is porous, but we piss all over ourselves in the state of UTAH and MONTANA, so why not COLORADO too?

Well, we piss on ourselves regardless of Geography!

Sac State 56 (should be 70 but they piss away 14 points)
UNC 24 with all 3 TD's in the 2nd half against the Sac State reserves.

Nothing against UNC but our squad is just outclassed this season.

We'll lose 55-10.

I'm just going to predict that same score every week from here on out.

Our young defense will have trouble with their QB. One of the tops in the conference. I'm with Blofeld. Let's assume we will give up 50 plus points.

Ok fellas, lets talk facts here...(1) the defensive line is fairly good. Most teams don't run much on them...(2)The offensive line is fairly good. Lobato typically has enough time. He gets nervous and either over throws his target OR does not check down to a secondary reciever. Watch the film you will see that I am correct.(3) No power back, no explosion, small holes need to be hit fast and hard, that is not happening, too much head faking and juking. No time for that at the line of scrimmage. (4)And this is the big elephant in the room, the secondary...they DO NOT cover...Period. Re-watch any game and you will see that nobody covers, there is typically a 5 yard cushion between any defender and every reciever in each of the five games played. You either have to cover or tackle, they are not doing either. If I'm sac state I run a few to keep the defense in check then open up the pass game. If they don't do that in the very first series, call me on it. I don't see any adjustment being made in the secondary. Get the ball to Doug Steel more, he's big and has great hands, get the ball to him. Use Wilbers too, another good tight end with good hands, I never see him on the field... Walker, Morris, Steel and Wilbers. Even Lobato can hit one of them. My two pennies...

Good point. Walker is obviously The Man....UNC record holder (in 51 more yards), reliable, leader
Steele like you said has great hands, is a huge target, and runs well (I think he holds the UNC record for longest average catches)
Morris is faassttt!. He does well when he works with some sideline & doesn't have to worry about being hit.
The others are interchangeable parts with this offense.
If I am incorrect on the record stuff, please let me know, but those three are proven commodities.

Receivers need to hold on to the ball. Dom Gunn and Chris Morris are speedy guys but they are at times a liability with not being able to hang on to the ball. I disagree with the defensive line. They're big time over-rated. No pressure on QB's. Chappele is good, but the rest are average. I would credit the run defense to the LB play, especially Bumpass.

You're way, way, way off on the record stuff. Walker is 51 RECEPTIONS short of the record, and is 2,000 yards short of Vincent Jackson's total. Steele's 18 yards per catch are good, but Jackson averaged over 20, and I'm sure there are other guys ahead of him as well.

Thanks for setting the record stuff straight. Seems like I heard the 51 yds short for Walker on the Big Sky audio feed when they interviewed him, and I thought I read about Steele's yard per catch average on a game preview earlier this year.
Thanks again for the record(s) clarification.
Any way it shakes out, those 3 (Walker, Steele, Morris) are all legit weapons, and have proven themselves.

nobody agrees about this secondary? I"m concerned that the defensive secondary coach is making no adjustments... maybe he doesn't have the horses...dorsey can tackle but can not cover. I'm afraid they will be exploited all year fellas.

The defense constantly sits in Cover 2, so yeah there will almost always be 5 yard cushion. The defensive coordinator needs to mix it up alot more. Where's the blitz's? Where's man coverage? Cover 2 is only effective when you have a front 4 applying pressure to the QB. Our front 4 is more of a concern than our DB's. This is a very young and inexperience coaching staff, I wish they would have hired at least one guy with 30+ years of experience who could be a mentor to these coaches. With the inexperience and Collins benching upperclassmen to rebuild, this team has no chance. I feel sorry for these players who have become victims of Collins' ego.

The whole defense isn't very good. I agree, either the DC isn't doing a very good job or we just don't have the athletes. I don't how many times the D has been caught out of position, poor tackling, and burned. They've giving up an average 488 yards per game. But I do think it has a little bit to do with the offense going 3 and out all the time too, when you O has the ball for only a few seconds maybe it doesn't give the D time to catch their breath and make adjustments.
