They are an enigma. They have had some good wins and some bad losses. I had them picked really high in the BSC, and now I'm not sure what to think.

I still believe they will get their act together soon. I just hope it is sometime after we play them.

They have a veteran front court and at least one veteran guard. They lost a lot off of their guard line, and that may be why they are so up and down.

I predict a closer game than the PSU game. :coffee:

Olds...our senior co-captain pt guard, Cody Demps is probably out with a Quad tear...he played with the tear for several games before he had to sit out (he has missed the last 3 completely and the Portland game only played 10 mins)....that is one of the main reasons for our inconsistency...we also were without Hornsby, our jr co-captain, against Portland as well as missing Barlett against Stanford....just not our year for injuries though we haven't quit yet....if Stuteville doesn't foul out against Stanford and Montana St., I think we win those two games....So, we just have to get back to full strength before any conclusions can be written...

Wow! :yikes:

That's too bad. I would say that Demps was the biggest loss. That just leaves you too thin and inexperienced on the guard line. Do we know if Demps will be back for this game?

If I knew for sure I wouldn't tell you Olds...I'm a Sac St fan...we have missed his experience as much as his basketball abilities...Let's put it this way, if you don't prepare for him you will be at a disadvantage...

The Hornets are a completely different team without Demps. Graves was very hesitant last night; I hope he can turn a corner this season. I’d like to see him take more shots. Graves (and the rest of the team) really need to cut down on the turnovers. That said; I don’t expect Saturday’s game to be close.

A quad tear sounds pretty serious and I hope Demps doesn’t come back until he is at or near 100%. While it would be nice to get Demps back now, I would rather lose games now so we have him back for the BSCT. Being at or near full strength for Reno is all that matters in the BSC.

Forgive my ignorance, but what happened to McKinney? Didn't he have another year for the Hornets?
He was a senior last season. Last I heard he is currently playing in Europe.
If McKinney was on the roster this year I would have tomorrow's game as a sure win. ;-)

I thought he was a good kid, but now you are telling me that he is a Giant Twerp???

Just pulling your string. Where is the other half of that dynamic duo?

mckinny and gerrity gone i thought sac would be really bad. too much talent gone. they had a historic season last yr finishing w/ the 2nd most wins and a hair away from hosting. yet they had the biggest success of the ooc this year. we can only wonder if katz is one of the top coaches in the sky...or number 1? there is no harder program to win with in america or to recruit to. its not even fair at all. ive been to games at the nest and its not even possible to get any state funding/assistance for a real arena.

sac could have had the mvp and coach of yr, i still dont know why sac didnt get the coach award. they were 21-12. sac bball = wsu fball.

I guess your asking about Dylan Garrity....he signed and was starting for a pro team in Portugal and suddenly I heard he had tweeted that he was coming home...something didn't work out...I haven't heard any specifics but will keep my ears open....Talked to McKinney's mother in late November and he is totally satisfied with his position and situation....

Actually Katz shared BSC Coach of the Year with Hayford from EWU.....Katz won the Mid-Major National Coach of the Year though....

I think that Katz does a tremendous job with the resources he has at his disposal. I also think that Sac State is a sleeping giant. They have the market to really grow into something good. What they need is alumni and community investment. PSU is in that boat as well. Smaller communities within the BSC have done a much better job of getting that investment. It's all about marketing and development. We could all benefit from more investment, but those two schools are way behind. :twocents:

Katz is awesome. The best part is that he is a local and alum, otherwise I think he would have been off to greener pastures following last seasons amazing run. He has truly built a competitive program from the ground up with the worst facilities in D1. Damn impressive if you ask me.

A fund raising drive was kicked off last April with the goal of raising $1M to really get the ball rolling for a new events center. I think we are pretty close to that goal as we had a few big donors kick in for the drive. The new university president has a new events center tagged as a key project to get done. We'll see where this goes but the fact that a public fundraising drive actually exists that has the support of the president is promising.

In the mean time the Kings will have a new downtown arena for the next NBA season so I would like to see a Hornet game or two played there if possible.

Kind of a sloppy first half. We turned it over way too often. Their press didn't look that good. We just got lazy in our attack. We lead by 5, 40 - 35, but it should be a much bigger lead. We were ahead by 10 with just a few minutes left in the half. :wtf:

I suspect that we will tighten up our attack in the second half. :coffee:

Terrible free throw shooting, terrible refs as usual, really bad play by play guy,but a good win nonetheless

 agree!! Worst play by play guy in the league.

Well...we did everything possible to hand that game over to Sac. Terrible free throw shooting. Ugh!! No matter, 5-0 on to ISU.

I've complained about FTs before. We seem so nonchalant about them. Bolomboy seemed a bit agitated tonight. Senglin tried to calm him down several times. Senglin should never have the ball at the end of a game. He is a turnover machine. I wince whenever he puts his head down and heads up the court...

Worst part of the night was when the Sac announcer said something like "this year's tournament is up for anybody to grab. With Demp back we can do a lot of damage, especially since where you are seeded doesn't matter any more."

I'm paraphrasing, but if anything has pointed out what a joke this new format is, that "screw the season it doesn't matter attitude" sure should...
