The Bears should be fired-up for this one, winning it will keep them from finishing in the conference basement. This is a chance to make this season a better one than last year! GO BEARS!!

I think the Hornets are better then their record shows. They've lost some very close games.

I'm breaking a vow I made after the Chadron game to not go to any games this year but I'll be up there on Saturday. After the last two games I'm feeling that this should at least be a close game.

So yeah, I'm sure there are a few of you that would like to take a poke at me and that's understandable. So rest assured I will be there, just look for me, I look exactly like Jay Hinrichs and I'll be wearing a suit and hanging around the luxury suites. 8)
 
I don't want to hear how much better we are getting, or how close we were; a loss is a loss is a loss. Downing is not paid to get us close, he is paid to get wins. Sure we have a young team, but if that is how Downing justifies losses, then we will always have a young team and we will never win. People say he is a nice guy. I don't care if he is the Pope, a change needs to be made. :evil:

Whoa, that's a little harsh. The result of today's was nothing but sheer dumb luck. The Bears were the better team today, and Sac St. got a lucky break at the end to win. A few weeks ago, I was driving the Fire Downing bandwagon, but he has made progress with this team and you can't go changing coaches every two years and expect to have success. Given these last three games, I'm perfectly fine with letting Downing finish his 3 year contract and then re-evaluating. If we can get in the .500 ballpark next year, it'll be a success. Besides, do you think we can afford to buy him out?? We're strapped for cash as it is in the athletic department. Ok, rant over.
 
You all know that every team has that play in their playbook and they all practice it. You can't say it is dumb luck or a fluke when a play that is called works (unless it includes 20+ latterals). Suck State put them selfs into a position to win and in the end, we lost. People may be encouraged at how much better we are playing and how much more compeditive we are. But you know that little white spot on the top of chicken shit? It's still chicken shit. :cry:

I don't care how much it's practiced, which isn't much, that's a play that almost never works. It's a desperation play that works a couple times a year in all of college football. You have to look at progress. I don't follow real close to what's going on but it sounds as though progress is being made. I don't see why you wouldn't wait and see how that'll carry over to next year with more experience. You have to take baby steps.
 
Well kicking did lose it we missed a 25 yarder and had another made FG called back because of delay of game and that is on the coaching.

But, UNC won that game and to say that play wasn't a fluke or a miracle is just taking an unfair run at UNC. How many times can you find an example of a similar play? Boston College in 1984, CU in 1994, so it's happen like 3 times in 30 years so that's basically once in every 10,000 NCAA games, so yeah it took a miracle for UNC to lose. The guy threw it 50 yards on the fly, it was tipped like 10 yards in the air and the guy caught it falling out of the end zone so yeah, I'd call that a fluke.

But, once again all you had to do was play defense for one final play and you win... or don't get only three points within the 10 yard line in the first half... take this into consideration:

1st posession of the game, fumble on the 10 yard line.
2nd possestion of the games, have a TD called back and get a field goal.
3rd possesion get inside the 10 and throw and INT in the end zone
4th possession get inside the 10 and miss a field goal

So get inside the 10 4 times and have 3 points on the board.... that is where the game was lost although, once again it took a miracle for Sac to win.
 
A 25 yard MISS is really sad. The FG called back was also missed, but was not on the coaching, The kicker took to long to set up.
 
I've talked to some who were around the field at the time of the play--and I have the photo evidence of the divot left by the SS reciever; I just have to get it off my phone...

NC didn't get a hand on the ball. It was kept alive by a SS player, which is what they're coached to do. In perspective, as many people will note: they're on scholarship, too. They're coached, too. They spend time on plays like that, too.

Dominic told Chris as he left the booth yesterday: "that's football".
