Sacramento State football sizes up local prospects

Everyone relax, signing day is Wednesday. I have no problem with the coaches keeping their verbals close to the chest.

Except these aren't coaches keeping verbals close to their chest SD, this is recruits not commenting on the commit status...

i think you have to take the commits listed on the sites with a grain of salt. Davis has 18 commitments, according to Biggs on the basketball game last week and an email i got today, and I haven't seen anywhere close to that number shown as commited on the sites.

I see where the DLS DB Antoine Pickett has been offered by Sac St, hope we gt him. Hoping we can snatch Marcus Allen-Paige back, I like that kid. could be a good run stopper on the DL.

Confirmed via his facebook page Nice to have a De La Salle product on the squad. Antoine played for the East Bay in the recent Sac All-Stars vs. East Bay All Star classic. I think this is a nice get.

As a fellow DLS alum, I am excited to see Pickett become a Hornet. Speaking of DLS alum who are Hornets, is Hendershott going to be back next year?

And Portland State got the Sheldon TE (Simmons?)...sometimes the coaches see one thing in a atheletes where others don't...they try and see where they will fit in with their program over then next few years...not an exact science and the stats and stars by a recruit don't mean alot to the coaches. Effort, Size, Speed (are what they see on film), Attitude, Personality, and Grades (are what they can research)...those are pretty much the tools they go on...not how many yards or tackles, which is all most of us (board members)ever see.

Without talking to the coaches it is hard to get an idea of how they felt about a player when them met with or contacted them. I have some crazy stories about recruits thinking they were to big for their britches when visiting schools or talking with coaches...

Last thing mentioned about Hendershott was the both he and Reed were applying for a medical redshirt so they can return in the 2011-12 season. I have no idea if the NCAA granted them the medical waivers.
