Big Sky Play Is Back As Vikings Host Hornets On Saturday

I, for one, am thankful to get back to more meaningful games. I'm hoping that a few Big Sky wins can really generate some momentum for this season.

I love the fact that Sac is much improved. They've already tripled their wins from last season. They beat ISU which was impressive after going 2-27 last yr and 1-15 in conf so to be 1-1 already isn't bad, 1-2 now. When Weber played at Sac, Sac looked really good, WSU was behind most of the game and Sac played us tough. It wasn't until the last 5 minutes that WSU took over and won by 15 but the final score does show how the game really went.

Anything is better than what Jenkins brought to the Stott year after year. A halfcourt offense of milking the shot clock to 15 seconds, then running a bad set play was tough to watch.

Oh wait, it's actually Katz that runs that slow tempo offense.

Anyone know if they are still running that this year?

If it was a slow-down game I didn't notice. We ended up with what, 96 points? Jamie Jones was terrific, scored a career high. But give Sac State credit, they stayed even with us during the first half. The women won this afternoon as well. A good start for conference. But now we've got the Montana crowd to deal with, a real test.

Yeah, no slow down offense from Katz this year.

I was a little concerned about how we'd come out after that Willamette game and with Geving sort of calling out guys in the paper.

This was a very strong effort tonight. The offensive sets were crisp from the get go.

Hats off to Jamie Jones with the nice double double, plus Phil and Dom with the three point shooting.

The only question I have is the minutes that Tree isn't getting. With Julius in foul trouble, I thought we'd see more of him. Is he in the dog house with Geving?

In fact, he kept several out until about 5 minutes to go. You'd think with a lead of twenty you could afford to pull the front line. Guess he wanted to keep the front line together for as long as possible this early in the season. Tree's just going to have to bide his time.

I've wondered about Tree's status at several points this year. I hope he can help us at some point this year, because he seems focused on rebounding, which is something we need.

Jamie Jones best game as a Viking so far:
