Sacramento State

Second on recommending the mountains. There is going to be a good amount of snow in the mountains this weekend and with the fall colors...yeah good time to visit. I hear Sat, the game will be in mid 60s but prepare for temps to fall into the low 50s by the end.

On another note, I'm looking for something the family and I can do when we get in Friday; only been there once - this past January. Also where's a good spot to get some Wildcat gear other than the campus store?

The area definitely has scenic drives and with the snow dropping this week it should add to the beauty. As has been suggested, a nice, shorter "loop" drive (one way or the other) would be up Ogden Canyon. The Oaks is a great place to eat and so is the Shooting Star Saloon in Huntsville but if you've got kids in tow you'd have to order your Star Burgers to go. Then, up Trapper's Loop, to Snowbasin, and down the other side of Trapper's and down Weber Canyon, back to Ogden.

If you're up for a mini road trip, then up Ogden Canyon, up South Fork and over spectacular Monte Cristo to the town of Woodruff. Then, north through Randolph (the coldest place on earth) and west to Bear Lake (one of most scenic lakes anywhere.) Around the lake to Garden City for lunch and most definitely a "famous" raspberry shake. From there, it's west, up and over Logan Summit and down scenic Logan canyon. Give the Aggies a one-finger salute as you drive by Utah State, through Logan, then Wellsville, and up and over Sardine Summit, to Brigham City. Take US-89 from Brigham City, along Utah's "fruit highway" back to Ogden. This trip would be high reward, scenic site-seeing but plan on 6-8 hours if you do it.

You could take a relatively short drive out to Antelope Island.

If you're looking more for entertainment, try the Junction downtown or Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington. "Frightmares" has started on the weekends which includes about two-thirds of the park rides operational and the park is all decked out in a Halloween theme, including shows, spook-alleys, etc. It's the best time to visit Lagoon IMO.

Another thought: you could take FrontRunner (or drive) to the Gateway (outdoor mall) in Salt Lake, where there are plenty of good places to eat, shopping, a children's museum, and Hansen Planetarium (take in a star/laser/3-D show.)

Unfortunately, you aren't going to find much Weber gear anywhere but in the high-priced book store.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. The mountains were definitely on my list. Maybe we'll head down to the junction Friday and to the mountains Saturday.

@SWWeatherGuy, what did you mean by the (one way or another) comment for the shorter loop?

And if I start out early Saturday morning, could I do the mini road trip and make it back in time for the game that evening without too much worry?

He means you could do the loop either direction, starting up Ogden Canyon or start up Weber Canyon, and if you leave in the morning you should have plenty of time to make it back for the pre-game tailgating.

About 100 miles to Garden City (Bear Lake) going over Monte Cristo. And about 90 miles from Garden City going through Logan. Plan on about 2 hours driving time each way. And I would endorse what was said about giving USU the bird as you drive by the campus.

Right, about 2-2.5 hours drive time each way, depending how quickly you're driving-- so, plan on 4-5 hours of drive time. Then, you'd figure in 1-3 hours of stop/site-seeing time-- so like I mentioned, plan for about 6-8 hours total. I drive this loop for work 2-3 times a year and it's absolutely beautiful.

If you go, be on the watch for wildlife, especially for not hitting wildlife. I rarely can make this trip without having to slow or stop for something. It might not be as bad with this cold storm pushing through but the most likely placing to avoid animals on the road is both sides of Monte, along Bear Lake, and upper Logan Canyon. Short list (haha) of animals I've seen (dead and/or alive) on this drive: Deer, Elk, Moose, Sheep, Cattle, Eagle, Hawk, Falcon, Beaver, Porcupine, Ground Hog/Chipmunk/Squirrel, Racoon/Skunk. If you keep an eye out, you should see several of these. If you're lucky, you'll come across a Wildcat but most likely you'll have to get to Wildcat Cat Stadium first.

Also if you go, don't miss the Bear Lake overlook up the mountain from Garden City. It's a great view of the lake and If the sun is out the water is an amazing, piercing blue color.

Sac State is favored by 2. Maybe that SFA game was a fluke? Vegas kinda thinks so.
I kind of think so, too. I think we caught SFA off guard in the first half with the uptempo play-calling and going for two on virtually every TD. In the end, that fast start proved to be the difference. I hope I'm wrong, but I can easily see this team winning it's first and last games of the season, losing everything in between. That being said, Sac is certainly beatable.

Come on Weber, your back in the friendly confines of Stewart Stadium, time to take advantage of it. A win today would give some nice motivation heading into two REALLY huge road games. Sac is beatable, but this will be no easy game by any stretch.

I hear Chipoletti will start the game but Adamczyk will still play, I really dont like playing with two QB's, at this point in the season you pick one and go with him.

It's homecoming, it's military appreciation and it's supposed to be a very nice day. Come on Weber win this game tonight.

I think it was, in part, a fluke, but also you have to look at what's happened since. I don't care what the scenario is, losing 7-70 and 6-70 is gonna be tough to get right again mentally. Follow that up with a single quarter where you're showing signs of life and then get beat down for another 3 quarters? Not good.

Weber is capable of getting this win at home against Sac, but the coaching staff sure has it's work cut out for itself. Like I said earlier, this is a MUST WIN game for Weber or this is going to be a very long and dismal season.

Anyone still think it was a good idea to bring Sears back?

Nope, I don't think there are any fans that think Sears has shown he is ready to be a head coach. Thank goodness that Bovee has the foresight to add in rightful termination clauses into his contract.

The real question is who can fix this mess?

At one point I was thinking Pflugrad would be the heir apparent but the offense sucks so bad that I am not sure about him either. But is that because he doesn't have the players to run his offense? :wall: Dropped passes, fumbles, same read option play over and over, Chip or Jordan, coach pick a QB and stick with him.

Game one was a huge fluke, 9-10 times I bet we lose to SFA this year, not counting that game there has been zero improvement in any aspect of the game.

Basketball can't get here soon enough.

Congrats Sac St for your 1st win in Ogden, you smacked us around pretty good, may it be your last for a very, very long time...

I think Sears is a terrible coach he has lost this team the same as last year. I looked into his previous coaching jobs and I notice he has never done any good anywhere I dont understand why Bovee hired him in the first place. I have been a season ticket holder since Mcbride took over and I have never seen the program this bad off. I also think Sears 3-3-5 defense is a absolute joke. We should fire Sears and see what Plugrad can do with the team we have nothing to lose at this point the team needs a change.

With the way we played from about 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter on to about the end of the 3rd Idaho State would have killed us as well. Gonna be a long year. Bring on basketball.

We suuuuccckkkkkk in Utah!!!

We won at SUU last time. We have never won in football at Ogden......until Saturday!

You mean Saturday of two thousand never

I think the coaches and players realize that losing a winnable game at home would be disastrous. After 3 brutal road trips I can't imagine the team not being prepared for this game; they should be focused. I see a high scoring affair with the Cats pulling away in the 4th QTR. I say we win by 11 with the ball in hand and a knee on the ground.

Two thousand never just came!

Wow, This is the first time I have ever left a Weber Football game halfway through the 3rd quarter. What heck has happened to this program? I was hoping it was the strength of our last 3 opponents, but now having seen this team in person I can now officially say that this team is horrible, the offense cannot move the ball worth a crock, the defense cant tackle, the only good thing about our team is our punter.

I really dont like to say this, but after what I saw today, I must.............Is it basketball season yet?
