On another note, I'm looking for something the family and I can do when we get in Friday; only been there once - this past January. Also where's a good spot to get some Wildcat gear other than the campus store?
The area definitely has scenic drives and with the snow dropping this week it should add to the beauty. As has been suggested, a nice, shorter "loop" drive (one way or the other) would be up Ogden Canyon. The Oaks is a great place to eat and so is the Shooting Star Saloon in Huntsville but if you've got kids in tow you'd have to order your Star Burgers to go. Then, up Trapper's Loop, to Snowbasin, and down the other side of Trapper's and down Weber Canyon, back to Ogden.
If you're up for a mini road trip, then up Ogden Canyon, up South Fork and over spectacular Monte Cristo to the town of Woodruff. Then, north through Randolph (the coldest place on earth) and west to Bear Lake (one of most scenic lakes anywhere.) Around the lake to Garden City for lunch and most definitely a "famous" raspberry shake. From there, it's west, up and over Logan Summit and down scenic Logan canyon. Give the Aggies a one-finger salute as you drive by Utah State, through Logan, then Wellsville, and up and over Sardine Summit, to Brigham City. Take US-89 from Brigham City, along Utah's "fruit highway" back to Ogden. This trip would be high reward, scenic site-seeing but plan on 6-8 hours if you do it.
You could take a relatively short drive out to Antelope Island.
If you're looking more for entertainment, try the Junction downtown or Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington. "Frightmares" has started on the weekends which includes about two-thirds of the park rides operational and the park is all decked out in a Halloween theme, including shows, spook-alleys, etc. It's the best time to visit Lagoon IMO.
Another thought: you could take FrontRunner (or drive) to the Gateway (outdoor mall) in Salt Lake, where there are plenty of good places to eat, shopping, a children's museum, and Hansen Planetarium (take in a star/laser/3-D show.)
Unfortunately, you aren't going to find much Weber gear anywhere but in the high-priced book store.
