The real question is who can fix this mess?

At one point I was thinking Pflugrad would be the heir apparent but the offense sucks so bad that I am not sure about him either. But is that because he doesn't have the players to run his offense?

It was easy to see Pflu didn't have the players to run that offense and the SFA game had me in shock; turns out it was a fluke. The question is how much is on the players and how much is the coaching. I mean, you can't under value what the right coach can mean and do for a program, but even the most inexperienced, non-talented college football payers should have basic fundamentals and I'm not seeing many on the field, is anyone else?

Wow, I really don't know what to say. That was one of the worst performances I have seen on any level. Offense could not do anything with the ball, showed no creativity, and had a level of ineptitude that pulled the moral from the fans.

Although defense at least showed some playmaking ability, they consistently overran tackles and were out of position time and time again. I think they completely forgot the flats even existed.

It seemed like the coaches had absolutely no answers what so ever on either side of the ball, and that debacle right before halftime was epic. I really don't know how this team will move forward. Obviously, they need to strap up and play next week, but it seems there is no hope for this team this year; I expect they will start mixing things up personnel wise. The bad part about this whole thing, is that the coaching staff had full opportunity to recruit the types of guys they wanted and that fit their system, and had a full recruiting class.

This was our first Wildcat game in person; and it was a major disappointment.

Your right, this team is lacking fundamentals in a big big way. On top of that, they do not look prepared physically! I thought the new strength and conditioning coach was supposed to make this team more physical?
On another note, I was watching the WR and they appear to have some fundamentals ingrained in them, and showed some ability to beat the press and get open; although, not by much. But Chip either would not see them or did not trust his ability to make the throw, and either ran or took a sack. Even basic fundamentals like throwing the ball away is lost on this team.

Sorry, fixed the first reference (I think) in my quote.

Although sad and disappointing, that quote is epic and a perfect description of how this team is hurting the fan-base.

I feel bad for you. Often, it takes Weber State Basketball to offset football disappointments.

Well regardless of the personel it's pretty easy to guard our offense(read option, read option, bubble screen, punt).

I am wondering IF the coaching staff is aware that the forward pass is now indeed a legal play. I know this is a relatively new rule change but they may want to look into having a QB in the future that can utilize this "new" weapon.

My sentiments exactly!!!

So neither QB is getting it. Isn't there four other QB's on the roster? Jadrian Clark? Maybe let Braden Corpus show us what he's got? Jonathan Willis at least can run? If all the Cats are ever going to do is read-options, might as well get a QB who can run in the game. Give Willis the ball and scream RUN LIKE HELL!!

Becoming two-dimensional offensively should be a priority for the Cats!!

Oh, McNeese was beaten by UNI 41-6 over the weekend. Things just look worse and worse for the Cats. Just for kicks, Prairie View A&M beat SFA. UGH!!

I hope the rest of your trip was good and that you were treated well. Safe travels.

All in all, it was a great trip. One we enjoyed and will eventually do again. Thanks for all the suggestions; here's the run down.

The Good:
- We have a freshman player on the team. We were able to visit with him and meet some of the players. This was our first time seeing him since early July.
- Bear Lake. This was one of the most picturesque places I have ever visited. When we came around the bend and the lake came into view, I was like a little kid pointing and saying ooh look! We didn't stop for a raspberry shake in Carson City, but I now see why "famous" was in quotes - lol.
- The drive to Bear Lake. I don't get to do it much, but I love driving through the mountains, and it was the perfect time of the year with the color changes.
- Giving Utah State the single finger salute - twice. I took US89 up and back, so we missed out on the other half of the loop.
- The people of Ogden

The Bad:
- Unfortunately, my 13 yr old son caught some kind of stomach virus the night before the flight. He was out of commission all day Friday, but was better Saturday.
- My son somehow managed to lose his Nintendo 3DS Saturday, and we have no clue where.
- The amount of WSU gear sold in surrounding stores, and the general lack of support or talk of the Wildcats. I'm guessing this has to do with the recent lack of success of the Wildcats, and the closeness of Utah and Utah State

The Ugly:
- The game (enough said)
- Snow Basin Road! I must say, I don't get nervous about driving on too many roads, but this road made me very nervous. They closed off I'm guessing the last few miles (where the outhouses are). I can't imagine driving on this road when it's full of snow.

Ordinary, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Utah. By the way, some of those mountain roads can be somewhat challenging, but they are a lot of fun.

Ordinary, I think you must have taken the old Snowbasin road. That road hasn't been maintained in years. The new road was built for the Olympics and takes off from Trapper's Loop road. It's a nice road. And we all get frustrated with the lack of support Weber gets from the local community and the lack of Weber gear in the local stores. But when you have three other major universities within a one hour drive, it's tough to compete. And it doesn't help when your football program has been a model of mediocrity for 50 years.
