Schedule released

If you haven't already heard, the basketball schedule has officially been released for public viewing (on the UNCBears.com site) after much anticipation. I feel like we have seen an interesting conundrum come up for our beloved Bears. Coaches around the country know what is brewing here, so they don't want to play a very good, little-known team like our Bears. So UNC had a tough time scheduling D1 opponents that are willing to give the Bears a shot. It makes sense for these bigger schools, they have nothing to gain by beating UNC, and if they lose (which is a possibility with this group), it would be regarded as a big upset, so it creates a lose-lose situation for them.

That being said, Northern Colorado will have a chance to show what they can do against the big boys on November 21st (At Arizona) and December 12 (@ Illinois). There will be 12 home games at Butler-Hancock, with 14 true road games and two neutral games, with one TBA game (BracketBusters). The Wyoming Cowboys will pay a visit for the second game of the year, a game that should be hotly contested after last years tight game in Casper. Also, I think we will find out a lot about this team on that December 6-game road swing.

What are your guys' thoughts on the schedule? Disappointed? Excited? Any early predictions?

Jesus, that road swing is brutal. Merry Christmas Bears, come home in one piece!

Dec. 12 at Illinois TBA
Dec. 18 at Denver 4:00 PM
Dec. 20 at Colorado State 7:00 PM
Dec. 22 at La.-Monroe TBA
Dec. 29 at Portland State * 8:05 PM
Dec. 31 at Eastern Washington * 4:05 PM

I am happy to play Wyoming at home so maybe we won't get hosed by the refs.

We had a hard time getting home games to, We have tried over the last few years to get home and homes with UNLV, N.Mexico, Wyoming, Boise State, Idaho, Air Force, San Diego State, Nevada and Colorado State, and not one of them wanted to, We have a crappy home schedule, the only highlight to it is when we host BYU.

We do play at Utah and at Utah State, we play at Tulsa and we have a road bracket-buster game, we compete in the Great Alaska shootout where we will eventually meet Arizona State, and at SUU.

Home games for us are, BYU, Seattle, University of the Southwest, and Colorado Christian (Yeah It sucks)

If that's the price to pay for being good, I'll gladly pay it. :D

Yeah, I remember the WYO game and it was really obvious the zebras wanted the Pokes to win. Pay back is a bitch!

He transferred to some JC in Utah, wasn't it a Mormon thing or something?

He transferred to Western Nebraska Community College, I don't think it was a "Mormon" thing as much as it was about fitting in with the program. And I think Hans was more of a "Boyle guy". Also, Western Nebraska Community College hired our old friend Yahosh Bonner to be the assistant coach, so I'm sure that's the reason why Brereton went there. Don't be suprised to see Bonner rise up the coaching ranks, he seems to have what it takes.
