Schedule released

It's official on the CWU website... Central will be our opening game! :thumb:

I am a little bit worried about this being a trap game. Their team is on fire coming off of last season and Hennesy will be super motivated to win. It's another Big Play VA situation... I'm getting tired of facing our old quarterbacks lol

Beggars can't be choosers, I guess. Not ideal, but at least it rounds out the schedule.

1. Great job gettin a 5th home game, especially this late.

2. EWU not playing both rivals (UM & UI) this season is a problem. In my opinion, EWU also has two secondary rivals in MSU & PSU. How can the BSC create a conference schedule for EWU that doesn’t include UM?

3. With the addition of Idaho & North Dakota gone,(and hopefully one day UNC goes back to DII) the Big Sky Conference is truly a great conference again.
The only thing the conference is missing in terms of football is a ‘North-South’ scheduling system. EWU, PSU, UI, ISU, UM & MSU in the North & everyone else in the South, which also works for non-football.

This is a great game for the 1st if Sept. with no students. CWU will bring a good crowd and they are a good DII program. We will gain enough revenue to pay for the game costs and the game will not be a gimme.

Very cool. Old Rivals meet again, and a better first opponent for Eastern than in '17. Former teammates, Gubrud and Hennessy, throwing the ball in opposite directions. Verrrrry cool. Welcome to Thee Inferno, Wildcats! Go Eagles!!!

Awesome game to start the season. CWU has some talent and their starters are borderline FCS level, at least last year they were. Great litmus test for the Eag's and our coaches. Everyone has had a year together, let's get it done.

To All,
Today we made our trip to EWU, noticed some of the Team running the hills in front of Reese Court Bldg, and working very hard at it. Most of them were OL/DL, Injured Players were working with the big rope. At 6a.m. the other side of the team did make their early morning hills   . I did see Keenan Williams, who seemed like he haven't lost anything since his accident. He stated he is ready to go, and he stated he will have 3 SACKS against Central WU. Team stated they are gearing up for CWU. Looking at the way this team is and have performed I think we could finish 11-0, not putting much pressure on them. I think the 1st game will really test our Team. I did see someone else predicted an 11-0 record. Our Coaches were all mostly new last year, they have come a long way, and are working very well with the tea and respective positions. I don't think there are anything happening until maybe Thursday.Go Eagles!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

Ouch, not the most ideal DII to play in your opener.

The last time we played central our season turned out pretty good...

Indeed. However, IIRC correctly, we barely won that game. Central will definitely make a game of it at the very least.

The Portland State game is set for November 16th at 7:00 PM. The game will be played at Hillsboro Stadium due to conflicts with the Timbers and construction issues. ROOT will also not be broadcasting the game, since it will be in Hillsboro.

Sucks bigtime!

The Big Sky needs a clause where if PSU's games get bumped due to the Timbers, then the opposing team gets to host.

I think Montana offered to host the game last year when it happened. Maybe EWU should do the same?

Seriously, can we just dump PSU as our "Rival" and replace them with Montana?

EDIT: I retract my first statement. Seems like Hillsboro is now PSU's home stadium after looking at their schedule.

Hillsboro is a crappy football venue. It's in the middle of nowhere (when compared to Providence Park) and it's basically just one grandstand. The grandstand is quite a bit smaller than Eastern's west side. I think the official capacity is around 10,000, but much like Roos, only about half of the seats are halfway decent.

I feel bad for all the things PSU have stacked against them. They don't play a single OOC FCS game. They start on the road at Nevada and Oregon.

I would trade grandstands with Hillsboro Stadium in a heartbeat. At least they look modern, I haven't seen a bad seat in the venue myself. The end zone and visitor seating at Roos is a joke.

I prefer playing at Hillsboro, at least you could kind of tailgate there (assuming they allow it, can't remember). Sitting in a 90% empty Civic Stadium kind sucks.
