SEMO looked beat in the first half against Stony Brook. 4 touchdowns later they looked pretty good. This should be a fun game.

Sagarin has Weber as 11 point favorites. Add 3 points for home field and we are 2 TD favorites.

I only saw the first half and SEMO looked awful. I was surprised to see them pull it out. They’ve survived all year on turnovers. Protect the ball, play our typical level of defense, and move on.

Should be a big game for Josh Davis. I will be there rain or shine. Go Cats.

Hey everyone! SEMO fan here, planning to make the trip to Ogden. Really looking forward to it except maybe the cold!

Doubt we’ll have a very large group of fans but surely will be a few. What is the pre-game tailgating situation up at your place?

Looking forward to the trip, should be a great game.

Hope you have a great trip to Utah. Not a lot of tailgating that goes on. The school has a tailgate parking lot on the North side of the stadium. They also have pregame activities in that lot. As of today, it looks like 30 degrees and snowing is a real possibility.

Looking forward to the game. I almost wrote your team off at half time, Stony Brook absolutely melted down. Weber brings a very experienced defense that is strong up front and quick to the ball. Offensively we seem to have turned the corner the last 4 games. We run the ball very well behind a solid O-line. Passing attack is mostly short routes unless you sell out on the run game.

This is the first ever meeting between the two schools, in fact, according to weberstatesports this is the first ever Ohio Valley opponent that Weber has ever faced.

The Redhawks are 9-3 now after their first round win over Stony Brook. They finished 2nd in the OVC. They have a good win over Jacksonville State who actually got the autobid for the OVC.

SEMO is coming off their first ever playoff victory and will be coming into Stewart Stadium full of energy, and with out penchant for not playing well after a bye has me worried. I firmly believe that Hill will have the Cats ready for the game. Cold or not we need Stewart Stadium to be packed, we live in northern Utah, put on your warm coats and get to the game.

Watched the highlights from Saturday's game. Looks like the redhawks have a stout defense that does a great job of mixing up looks. Granted, you can't get much from a highlight film, but they look like a solid team. Stony Brook killed themselves with the TOs, but the redhawks took advantage of short fields and scored when they needed to. Yes, they were outgained by almost 200 yards, but that doesn't mean that the redhawks aren't potent on offense. These guys kinda remind me of North Dakota; good defense with an efficient and potentially potent offense.

The Cats have to bring their A game. I don't see the redhawsks being pushovers. They will be amped and ready to go Saturday afternoon. Weber will have to match their intensity and toughness.

Weber a 12.5 pt fav on 5Dimes

Massey has Weber as a 13.5 point favorite winning 34-21 with an 83% win probability.

Had a look at each team's schedules last night. No common opponents and each has played 1 FBS and 0 Non-D1. Opponent's overall combined record is 59-74 (.444) for SEMO, and 56-65 (.463) for Weber St.

SEMO is 3-3 in Away games. SEMO's three Away wins were against S Illinois (2-9), Tennessee Tech (1-10), and UT Martin (2-9). Those teams are a combined 5-28 (.151). Average score in wins was 52-38. Away losses were to FBS Arkansas St (8-4), E Kentucky (7-4), and Murray St (5-6). Those teams are a combined 20-14 (.588). Average score in losses was 24-37. Average score in all Away games was 41-38.

Weber is 5-0 in Home games. Weber's five Home wins were against S Dakota (4-7), N Colorado (2-9), E Wash (9-2), Montana St (8-4), and Sac St (2-8). Those teams are a combined 25-30 (.454). Average score in wins and all Home games was 29-16.

Based on records and average scores Weber should be the favorite, with the score being something like 33-20. This is close to what both 5Dimes and Massey have it at.

I was able to watch the 2nd half of SEMO’s game. They looked much better in the 2nd half. Turnovers really sparked the whole team. They have a good, mobile QB who can scramble and has enough speed to be a threat on read option plays. He made a number of nice throws as well. Still finished only 13/29.

Their run game was bottled up Saturday but their RB was the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Their QB was one of two QBs on the first team. Their LB was Defensive Player of the Year in the OVC.

Defensively they really shut down Stony’s rushing attack and forced them to throw. I’m sure that will be their gameplan as well. Jake needs to protect the ball, which is easier said than done against this team.

Stony Brook finished the game with 4 sacks and 11 tackles for loss and I don’t think their front 7 is as talented as ours.

My main concern is sloppy play coming out of a bye, which has been an issue under Coach Hill. It sounds like he changed up the bye week routine and practiced hard on Saturday so hopefully that helps.

Latest forecast for Saturday shows only a 10% chance of precipitation. Looks like about 9500 tickets are sold. Hoping for a great turnout.

If 9500 tickets have been sold and if the students show up, Stewart could be rocking on Saturday. I'm guessing anywhere from 500 to 2000 students show up. Also, I'm sure there will be a lot of walk up tickets sold on Saturday (anywhere from 500 to 2000 again).

I'll be pleasantly surprised if much more than 6K-7K actually attend the 30°ish game. There is still plenty of forecast questions regarding precipitation, ranging from none to snow showers. The air flow has been forecast to put North Davis and Weber Counties in a favorable position for lake effect snow, if any develops. Any lake effect would more than likely be overnight Friday, throughout Saturday.

I hope Hill has them practicing some in the cold temps this week to acclimate and use it to their advantage since they haven't really been in much cold to date. Not sure how I feel about any possible snow. SEMO sounds like a similarly built team and since Weber has no real weather experience it might affect them as much and, who knows, maybe more so with the offense blooming late. I'm not sure if temperature enhances the effects of altitude or not. My guess would be if it does that the combination of heat and altitude would be more difficult than with cold.

Went back online to purchase my tickets and the amount of available tickets had increased by over 3,000. Not sure what that’s about.

They just today released the season ticket holders seats. We are going to be lucky to get 6k to this game.

MSU had barely over 10k last week, which is about 8k less than regular season. JMU had just over 6k for a storied program. Playoffs do not seem to impress the casual fan. :twocents:

I am not too optimistic about this games attendance. 100% it should be a sell out, but planning on a sellout only will make me disappointed come Saturday. I pray I am wrong, but gut tells me 7k tops.

Sure doesn't help that dedicated fans hear very little about the game, the playoffs, or Weber State Athletics, let alone the casual fan.

You have to take into consideration that the first round took place over Thanksgiving weekend. And unless you are one of the most storied power FCS teams (Montana, NDSU) that will make a difference.

I don't expect a sellout, in fact I don't even expect to hit the double digits, and if the weather is bad I don't expect more than 6,000 but if it's just cold I could see us getting at least our average of 8,500. As of right now the Weber State site says there have been 7,187 tickets sold. With 3 more days left to buy them online, add on the expected walk up buyers on gameday and it should increase, and hopefully by a few thousand.

Don't expect an overly large crowd.

I'm sorry but I don't see this as a viable excuse anymore. At this day and age the technology exists (Internet) for anyone to find the information for this stuff. I follow Weber State on both twitter and Facebook, those are just two of many options. Heck If you have internet access all you need to do is go on Weber's athletics page. They always have the necessary info. If you really want to know what Weber is up to, casual fan or dedicated fan it doesn't take much effort to look. The local media isn't going to help our efforts so it's up to the fans to do the research. Weber State keeps their site up to date and they constantly post updates on social media.

As far as outside sources I have seen several billboards and signs on buses for this playoff game.

Could the University do more, yes times like a thousand, but the fans should also put forth some effort as well.

They have been posting often on Instagram as well although the main WSU page with nearly 12k followers doesn’t have any posts about the playoff game

I've heard several ads on 1280 the zone about the game, the "black Friday deal" with the ticket to football and basketball and teeshirt for $25. Last last night channel 5 sports highlighted the football game with interviews from Coach Hill and players. The SLC media has made some efforts discussing the FCS playoffs.
