Sure doesn't help that dedicated fans hear very little about the game, the playoffs, or Weber State Athletics, let alone the casual fan.

I'm sorry but I don't see this as a viable excuse anymore. At this day and age the technology exists (Internet) for anyone to find the information for this stuff. I follow Weber State on both twitter and Facebook, those are just two of many options. Heck If you have internet access all you need to do is go on Weber's athletics page. They always have the necessary info. If you really want to know what Weber is up to, casual fan or dedicated fan it doesn't take much effort to look. The local media isn't going to help our efforts so it's up to the fans to do the research. Weber State keeps their site up to date and they constantly post updates on social media.

As far as outside sources I have seen several billboards and signs on buses for this playoff game.

Could the University do more, yes times like a thousand, but the fans should also put forth some effort as well.

Hmmm...have your customer find you? I never really considered that as an advertising/marketing strategy. I never suggested minimal advertising as an excuse, only that it certainly doesn't help. Weber's market needs to continually be reminded they are there, playing, and that they are worth some entertainment $$$, especially the casual fan. The school and athletics can obviously approach it however they like but I certainly wouldn't take for granted that the community is aware of what's going on at Weber State, nor would I count on them to seek it out.

I didn't know KSLTV and 1280AM was giving any time to WSU/FCS; that's good to hear. I grew tired years ago of 1280 and to a lesser degree local TV's football coverage being about 60%-pUkes, 25%-BYU, 15%-USU/misc.

Pretty excited to see these two teams tangle on Saturday afternoon. the redhawks are a good team and will be fun competition to watch. The Cats have to hold onto the ball. No cheap opportunities for semo. Take care of the ball and play great defense and the Cats should be ringing the bell late Saturday afternoon.

As for attendance, who cares if it is cold or snowing. True fans will show up and support the team. Will it be a sell out? NO. Does this team, rain or shine, cold or warm, deserve a sell out? YES! But, we are talking Weber State Football; an afterthought for most people living along the Wasatch Front. I mean the overall average for over 50 years of DI football is like 6500 (perhaps an exaggerated approximation). However, could there be over 10K on Saturday? Yes...there is a definite possibility. Talked to a friend in the ticket office and she told me that it has been extremely busy this week between the playoff game and the basketball game against BYU (I agree with Randy, I'm really glad that they will still come north and play us here). In the end, a lot depends on the students. Whether or not they come out and support. A good student section/crowd will be the difference to a loud and full stadium or an empty and silent one.

Marketing to students isn't rocket science. It does take organization and work though. Food and music is really all you need. So many avenues upon which the message could be broadcast. Athletic marketing should have through the "Destruction" taken the initiative if WSUSA wouldn't, to get students out. Who cares if you are stepping on somebody's toes. They should have done the work. I will say, there has been more than what I expected from athletic marketing (could be a lot more and sign placement is really interesting, but...better) and it will pay dividends in the end.

GO CATS beat the redhawks!!

I know this is the FB side, but I completely disagree with you and Rahe on this point. If you listen to his coach speak on 1280 today, he admits that his previous offensive sets are "dinosaur" like. He also said that he does not care too much about W/L's in preseaon play... :tothehand: :tothehand: :wtf:

Why would anyone buy season tickets with that mentality. Basically, he should be wanting to win all those games, and especially against in-state teams, so they want to come here and play, not the other way around like it is now. If were the top dog, other schools would have no issue coming here to play, because we would be a good win or a good loss.

Story on Weber State's third straight playoff appearance touches on the elevated expectations Jay Hill has established within the program.

Back to the weather, Cape Girardeau has been colder than Ogden for the last several days. Forecast is still leaning towards little-to-no snow. So, we may be looking at two teams playing in slightly chilly but otherwise good conditions with neither probably affected by conditions much.

I hope Weber can get decent attendance to give it a home field feel. In fact, it would be nice if the students and community stepped it up and gave a deserving team the recognition and support it deserves all the way to the finals. I looked at SEMO's reported attendance numbers: they averaged 4,498 at home and 7,834 on the road, with only one game more than 8,500. I'd love to see 12K cheer Weber on Saturday, but know what's unfortunately more likely. Regardless, can't wait-- GO WILDCATS!

Was thinking SEMO would already be in Utah. Per their twitter account they are just now boarding a plane. Game is just over 24 hours away.

Good Luck Wildcats. Show everyone that #2 seed was well earned.

Hope you get a big crowd.

Good luck to the other 'cats too. A very tall task at hand for MSU but that's why they play the games. A win tomorrow would be epic for MSU and the BSC alike. If nothing else, I sure hope the Bison have to work for it. Go Bobcats!

It would be epic. I'm happy that we're back into the playoffs and headed in the right direction. I don't think we're to NDSU's level yet but any given Saturday. If we don't pull it off, hopefully you guys can get to Frisco and do it.

As of 10:00pm, there are only 7,070 seats remaining, so we should be looking at about 10,430 showing up. The good thing about this game, is people are buying tickets with the intent of going, and buying knowing the weather will be cold. I think 12k+ is actually possible.

Finally game day. Been waiting for this.

Keys to Weber victory.
Dominant line play on both sides of the ball.
Win the turnover battle.
Control Time of Possession.
Limit big plays.

Basically the same as every other game this year. Josh Davis needs a typical game. Constantine needs to protect the ball. We need manageable third downs. Let's not get cute with the play calling. Playoff football is what this team is built for.

Weber wins 27-14

Way excited for this game, finally! Looks like it's gonna be a balmy mid-to-upper 30° and partly cloudy. There are some snow showers west of the lake that could possibly come through but nothing that should keep 12K from coming out and enjoying an exciting Weber State day of FCS playoff football-- LET'S GO!

Happy playoff game day all! Looking to be a beautiful day for some football. Get your asses and everyone you know out to the game.

Maine up 35-14 on Jacksonville St. with 10 mins to go in the 2nd-- looks like a real defensive struggle! Jacksonville gave Kennesaw all they could handle in 5OTs a few weeks ago.
