1987, I might have missed it but what are we paying CWU to hop on a bus for the 160 miles then hop back on for the 160 mile return trip? Cullinan, President of EWU since 8/2014, now all-in on athletics after just 45 months on the job? sweet

I heard $100k but not 100% so consider it a rumor. Spokesman would know I would think. I’m just glad we are spending money and investing in the program. Great leadership by president. Kick off can’t get here soon enough.

The doom and gloom attitude on hear by some, is exactly what will work against efforts for fundraising. I understand the frustration for lack of progress and I share it. But, the new administration and leadership need to feel the excitement from the hard core fans and alums like everyone on here, not the piss poor attitude of ho hum.

As far as Cullinan goes, I've been a critic of her in the past. However, hiring Hickey is a do or die move for Cullinan. I don't know if anyone else caught that she was hired as the AD and Associate VP. Anyone want to take a guess at why? My guess is EWU couldn't pay her enough as AD to make it worth her being here and therefore, gave her two job titles for a bigger pay check. That also means, Cullinan has laid it all on the table and if nothing gets done, she's on the hook.

I have a feeling good things are coming, and each one of us on here are going to be part of a change. If you don't like it, get the hell out of the way, but I hope nobody here fits that category.

You have to understand that many of us have been around for a long time. In that time, we've heard about big plans that never get off the ground. I think you could summarize my attitude by saying "cautiously optimistic." I think Hickey was a good hire and she seems for more capable of navigating our internal politics than Chaves. Finalizing the schedule was a good start; how that lingered for as long as it did is beyond me.

However, the big 800lb gorilla in the room is our stadium issue. That needs to happen, and really should've happened many years ago. That is the biggest issue that needs rectification. If Hickey can get that done, she's a superhero in my book.

This.

Although I do agree with Dopa... I've only been a part of the EWU community since 2010, but I share the "cautious optimism" as well. But I do share ewueagle's enthusiasm and want to cheer on the administration with everything I have. Just sending good vibes Cullinan and Hickey's way.

This. Even if that's ***ALL*** she got accomplished, it'd be a huge win. Seriously.

If you listen to what she said at the press conference, she recognizes the dire facility situation, but there are some foundational health/safety things that need to be addressed first. She specifically mentioned the understaffed Trainers and Strength and Conditioning Coaches as well as better food for our athletes. I'm guessing that is where she begins, so you may not see visible changes right away. However, she seems to be a mover and shaker, so I am sure we will see some visible fundraising efforts.
