Second Scrimmage

G&P,
Great meeting you and your Son Tuesday, and again today at the Practices. Your Son seems like he was really enjoying being around here. Hope you both got back home safely. We had a nice warn day yesterday, and today we kind of freeze a little with the cold wind. Good luck on what you came here for. Tomorrow is another Practice at 4 pm, Golf on Friday a.m. Scrimmage on Saturday @ 2p.m., then at 4:30pm, doors open for the BIG Feed, Lobster/Steak Dinner/Dance until about midnight. Every have an "Outstanding Weekend", come with a Designated Driver.   Vic Wallace

Yes! It was great seeing everyone and meeting you and Paul. See you soon... GO EAGS!

To All,
Even being in the Press Box yesterday for the Retirement of an EWU Employee of 38 years, I still checked out the practice from the box. The team is coming along very well, and the new kids on the block surely loves to it, and hit hard. We will have some great additions to the team again this year. K. Kupp seems like he is ready to come in and start hitting, each time I see him he has a smile on his face. One more practice left until sometime in July or August. 4 p.m. practice on Thursday, April 30. Have a great Spring. Now here comes the FB Withdrawal. :x :x :x . Vic Wallace

We are going to be sooooo fast this year! Speed kills and especially when it comes with "good on contact"...

We will see both! GO EAGS!

Big Congratulations to Jake and the family. Drafted in the 7th round :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:     , didn't get the picked. I know dad is up above smiling down on Jake for his commitment, and did he wanted to accomplish. I remembered when he was out at Practice a few weeks, he told me he had a trip to Atlanta, and some place else. They must have seen something in Jake that like. He got what he wanted, Hope he get his degree. Take care. Vic Wallace

G&P,
I think we will have speed all over the team. Even the OL looks fast. I still thinks of the Punt return that big Jarrod Jones did, he is faster than I taught. Yesterday the had fun doing their Paint Balls Game in the Student Field. Had fun watching. Have a great weekend. Must go and check out the Championship Fight, should be a hell of a fight tonight. Have a great weekend. Vic Wallace

Specifically at LB, DB, OL, and RB

It will be noticeable in particular at OL and DB.

Strangely enough the only positions that I don't think will be faster are QB and WR. The DL speed movement started last year and Cheney product K. Williams will just add to that.

Wait until you see the Sims kid from central California. My friends tell me he was the fastest kid (4.37) at a few NATIONAL and State combines (which is no easy thing in California). The McGuire kid on OL can run a 4.7 forty at 270 pounds and will be all over LB's and DB's when he blocks. The tall OT Long is also a quick player and the RB Williams in the incoming class has elite speed on and off the field. I know EWU has had some fast backs, but this kid could be the fastest of them all. Over 2,000 yards rushing says it all. I also think in terms of game speed, the RB McPherson plays much faster than his 40 time, probably has something to do with his outstanding decision making during his carries. Kupp is the same on defense. His choices are almost always right and he plays much faster than just his 40 time, which is also good anyhow for his position. Imos and Dorton are also much the same at DB.

I think it's obvious we are much faster at LB this year after watching a few practices. I love it. Speed Kills!

I'd be extremely surprised to see anyone at EWU as fast as Taiwan Jones, now, or ever. Not saying we haven't recruited fast kids, but that dude was just in a different stratosphere.

TJ was truly something special. We could go fifty years without seeing a player like that. Not only was he lightning fast, but he his ability to flow like water between tackles was amazing to see. I'm still blown away by his highlight reels. Wish he hadn't declared early. I wonder if he could have beaten Bo Levi for the Payton award? Probably not, because it seems to be a quarterback only award now. But he definitely would have been up there.

To compare:

Taiwan Jones High school 200m personal record: 21.32
Malcohm Williams High School 200m personal record: 22.10a

That's a big difference in sprinting speed times. Keep in mind, it appears as if Malcohm Williams may not be doing track this year and these times were recorded during his senior year.

Rjones61,
Tiawan did burn up the field. I met Williams dad at the Scrimmage, and his son. We had some of the Recruits here for the Scrimmage. Williams stated he knew Ashanti Kindle RB, since he was 8 years old, and stated he will be a very good RB for the team providing he stays healthy. Here are some present Sprinters running track. FR Jeremy VanAssche, last weekend broke a 100 meter dash that my son had set in 1981. Vic Jr. ran 10.43 at EWU, this Freshman ran 10.42 May 1, 15 at Oregon St. Former WR Blair Bomer ran 100 meter in 12.09, 200 meter in 21.80. Again Williams mentioned couple of other Recruits will be bringing some speed for this club, forgot their names. We have some CB, DB, LB are very fast, and deadly tacklers when the have an opportunity to tackle, and they love to "HIT". Now let me try and get some ZZZZZZZZs. Good morning. Vic Wallace

Anyone know these guys forty times? 200 marks really aren't the best measurement for football. Either way I'm more than happy to see anyone here that is running those types of times playing at EWU. Williams is blazing fast and has had impressive production in a very competitive area for hs football.

I still think that this years RB's as a whole are faster than any group of them (even T. Jones group).

TJ ran a 4.33 during his pro day in 2011, but was reported as having run sub 4.3 times on several occasions. Dude is just a freak athete. Could jump over a car in a single bound.

Exactly. And you have to take high school 40s with a grain of salt. They are always inflated a bit due to hand time errors. I agree that our overall speed of this class is pretty high. Seems like we have a lot of smaller bodies meant to fly around. I'm wondering if the coaching staff is going a different direction.

But yeah, not one of them are up to TJ's level. Not one.

Rjones61,
Great to see Tevin just signed a contract wit the Oakland Raiders. He will now be with Taiwan Jones, who signed for another three years a little while ago. Here is wishing all three Players Jacob Rodgers, Tevin McDonald, and Tyler Harvey. I know all of you Bloggers are with me and others wishing all three Players the "best of Luck" NFL/NBA. We will have some more Players heading for the NFL in a few years. How can we miss with all these Outstanding Players coming in to join an already Outstanding Team. "Good Luck to all Three of You". Vic Wallace
