Of note:

ISU is 1-1 with a 32-3 home win against Montana-Western and a 38-17 road loss to Utah State.
ISU travel to the University of Georgia in November. Good luck guys.

The only thing that will make me forget last week and feel a little better about things is if we take Idaho State behind the woodshed and show no mercy and have that killer instinct and put a chip on our shoulder and bully them for 60 minutes... so anything less than a victory by at least 3 touchdowns won't wash the taste of last week from my mouth.

Anyone know what's going on with the injuries that occurred against Weber? Is our o-line going to heal up in time?

I'll answer my own question - Gumbs looks to be out for the year and Jace Davis may not play on Saturday. Huge blow to the offensive line. I think we have depth so losing Davis for a game or two isn't a huge lose.

Amal Gumbs is done for the year. Lee Barbiasz missed last game and is questionable for this weekend. Nick Candler should be good to go this weekend and Alex Shapiro has a cast on but should be able to play all season with it.

The game notes for Idaho State the two deep depth chart has Barbiasz and Jace in the starting line up, and Amal is replaced by Cody Gilmore. Don't know how accurate this is, but that's what it says.

ISU had -11 yards total offense against us last season. IF we have improved this game should be over by 3 QTers.

Also, is it possible Gumbs gets a medical redshirt?

Gumbs never had a redshirt year. Played as a true freshman, so IMO, he will take a redshirt year this year and be ready to go next season. It's too bad to lose him this season, seemed like he was really coming on. Had a great pull block at Weber that allowed Harris to score.

On a related note, the same "game notes" from Idaho State's website says that UNC received 6 votes for the Top 25 in the FCS.

As for Gumbs, Downing made it clear Monday night that Gumbs would pursue a redshirt. Maybe turning on the radio for a coaches show would be helpful.

Troy, what else did Downing have to say during the coach's show for those of us who didn't hear the broadcast? Anything new? Did you happen to ask him why he ran out the clock at the end of the game instead of trying to score? What does he think this says to the team? Does it say he doesn't have confidence in them that they can get into scoring position without turning the ball over? Did you ask any hard hitting questions or just serve up softballs? Does he take any responsibility for the loss to Weber? If he had to do it over again, would he play the game the same way? Etc, etc...
By the way, what time on Monday is the coach's show, and is it available on pod-cast?

Of course I asked him why he approached the final 48 seconds the way he did. It came down to field position. You can 2nd guess it all you want--I'm just giving a summarized response.

Your next question is confrontational.

As for "would he play...the same way?", no coach would ever approach a loss the same way after going back and reviewing.

As for the show:http://www.1310kfka.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1144&Itemid=1 And, no, I've not uploaded for podcast because of a tech issue I'm working on from the production side...

The last thing I'm saying here is that the reason I piped up about the coaches show is that every year I've been here, the coaches show has not been at the same local establishment for consecutive years. The lack of attendance by fans turns our clients off. Yet, KFKA continues to produce one...it would be a shame if it went bye-bye sometime soon because of a lack of interest.

There's a lack of interest in the program over-all. Most of it has to do with losing but some of it has to do with the lack of marketing done by the athletic department. I'm predicting the attendance for ISU to be about 2,000. I hope I'm wrong.

Troy, I assume that there really are not the sponsors out there that would support a studio show. It's a shame considering they are now division 1. When they were division II, there was a TV coaches show hosted by the KFKA play by play person.
