Spring Ball Updates

To Screamin_Eagle174..... "Burgett looks like he has some pent up frustration as a QB, because he's been putting some hits on people. He had a tackle today that was lights out, could hear it at the top of the stands from clear across the field."

REALLY???? Your comment seems to base Scott's performance on pent up frustration as opposed to acknowledging perhaps he has a strong desire to play football. Per coach Baldwin: “Scott is doing well and competing hard,” said Baldwin. “I just love Scott Burgett so much as a person and respect how hard he’s worked since the day he got here.

So Scott embraces his coaches request to move to a new position as another QB did last season and all you comment is that his success is due to pent up frustration? REALLY?? Seems to me the young man wants to play and finally sees an opportunity to earn some substancial PT. Desire and competition are more acurate descriptions of his current performances on the field.

Easy there , A"narrow"viewfromafar. That's quite a first post from you! Have a beer, sit back and relax.

It clearly wasn't meant literally. The kid was being paid a compliment for his hit and the comment was said tongue-in-cheek. It wasn't said to offend family...

Think you might have taken what was said a little too literally. As was stated, it was a little tongue in cheek and probably more of a compliment than any kind of insult whatsover.

And welcome to the board! :thumb:

This. My comment wasn't intended in any way to denigrate his motivations or performance. It was meant as a lighthearted generalization regarding the position he played before; QBs usually take hits, not dish them out. I certainly didn't mean that he's bitter over the position change and not getting to play QB. I have no doubt he's a competitor and embraces any chance to play and compete. I would too if I were in his shoes. It was an incredible hit, that's all I meant. :thumb:

to screamin eagle....Thank you for the explaining your post. I admit, I read it differently than you intended. Thank you for clearing it up. And thank you for the 'welcome aboard". Very appreciated! Go Eags!

one of my only concerns coming out of this Spring Ball is the number of starters that either didn't participate or saw limited action. in particular, on the offensive line. I am wondering how this is going to affect the team chemistry going into summer practice. hopefully some of these guys that have been dinged up can get healthy by this summer.

Rest assured, veterans- especially on the offensive line- usually see very limited reps during spring ball. This is by design. Spring ball is a great opportunity to get some game speed experience for the twos and threes. Guys like Gabe Jackson and Chris Powers won't get much out of spring drills. I promise you that the offensive line is the tightest group of guys on the team, and that's how it has to be. No other position group on the field relies on chemistry and non verbal communication as these guys.

Plus we only lost one starter from the group. :thumb:
