Stanford

The betting line opened at 10.5, it is now at 12.5 for the Cardinal. I am trying to find where it will be televised.
PAC12 Network - Bay Area. Don't think we get that in Utah.

Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of excitement for this game. Maybe we're all just expecting the same old thing.

Or in my case im still more into the football mindset and not just college. It's true the Cats can still make the playoff's, It's also true that they'll be kept out for Montana's money. But my NFL team is doing well and that's just the mindset Im in. It's an abnormality for me to still be excited about football at this time of year. Basketball, even Weber State basketball just isn't on the top of my mind.

BTW....last year we had a 10 pt lead at Stanford until our center fouled out....we lost by 10 but that place is not too intimidating at all...they (Stanford) will be lucky if they get the gym half filled (7,300 cap)...

Why would we expect anything different? :dead: Pepperdine was a good game to watch, it's just that we've seen the same ol' things play out year after year after year. I mean look at coaching decisions, the "complicated" playbook, and tendencies (good and bad) of each position and player. I, for one, liked what I saw on the floor for the most part and it was much more than just shooting the ball well. There is much talent on this team and they should be plenty entertaining to watch. However, as I watched the Waves easily erase momentum and leads I wasn't surprised in the least to see it play out. Many of the same frustrations game after game, year after year. I'm "expecting the same old thing," not expecting a W, but hoping to see them compete again and hopefully give Stanford a game. Besides, all these games are for is to prepare them for reNO :ohno: .

When the game was originally scheduled, it was supposed to be on PAC 12. I guess that has changed and only the Bay Area will be able to view it. According to the release we can stream it on pac-12.com. I'm not sure if they charge you or not. You probably have to have cable tv.

I'll be watching it.

Any news about why Richardson never played against Pepperdine? Sure hate to see only 7 guys with Dallas getting a couple of minutes in the first half. I'm hoping Richardson was under the weather and might be ready to go. We've got to get more minutes from our bench, especially with a three games in three nights tournament coming up.

Despite it's rep nationally, there isn't much interest in PAC 12 basketball by the fans within the conference. I'm sure hoping they spread the NCAA bids around the West a little better this year. The egg PAC basketball had thrown in its face last year should influence the committee for at least one or two years in my opinion (if not a heck of a lot longer).

Richardson has been up and down all fall. Looks to me like John, Gittens, and Baker are taking all the minutes. I don't think there are any problems with him. He just hasn't earned the PT. Gittens came back from his injury like a man possessed and John has been sensational all fall. Dusty is Dusty, a great utility guy at several positions. Ryan is a great kid too, he just isn't in that main rotation right now. Maybe that will change.

Sorry oldrunner, I don't buy that excuse. And if you're right oldjunner, then count me as a guy who thinks Rahe blew another one on the road. I hoped against hope that Richardson was ill. That is a really talented scorer who is not good enough to get 5 minutes in a 40 minute game? Not good enough to give other players a little rest?

There are minutes for Richardson. In fact, I think they desperately needed another body in the second half against Pepperdine so other guys could get some rest and get their legs back. And I would make the same argument that Dallas needed to make another appearance at some point in the second half as well. As a team, we definitely ran out of steam at the end of that game.

Like I said in my original post after the game, I hate to see Rahe get into his short rotations. I think they always cost us. If Richardson, who started most games last year, isn't in the main rotation, then the rotation needs to expand. Seven guys is not enough. Seven guys has never been enough. Seven guys will never be enough! Rahe going to his short bench seriously drives me nuts. And I absolutely hate the message it sends to our players.

Of course we seem to do this annually ...

:wall: Well this game went South quickly.

Yep. It got ugly quick.

More than any other year in recent memory, we are a live by the 3 die by the 3 team. Once they made the adjustment to take away the lay ups we were getting, it was all missed 3 shots from us.

Zach Braxton is the most important player on this team. When he gets into foul trouble, we are in serious trouble. I know this is harsh to put on a RS Freshman, but I don't think Jordan Dallas is a D1 caliber big man. Yes he is 7 feet tall but he can't get a rebound to save his life and gets abused in the paint. What happened to having guys like Hajek, Morris and Mahoney ready to come in at the post positions and to do the blue collar things as a back up? Sure you couldn't count on tons of points from them but they could likely get more than one rebound in 20 minutes. I don't see Darling or even this 7 foot recruit coming in next year able to do those things either.

It did not expect us to win this game. But if coach truelly believes that these games are learning experiences and a measuring stick, here you go Randy: the team needs to learn to rebound especially if they are going to shoot 10% from 3 land. Sorry just not a ton of positives from last night. Jerrick Harding is officially not redshirting. I hope he can find some minutes.

Hopefully we never shoot that badly again. But, we just witnessed how bad a team we are if we aren't hitting our first shot. There will not be a lot of offensive rebounds this year. Our rebounding is atrocious. A huge chunk of Bolomboys points came off of second chance looks. We don't have that; especially if our bigs are on the bench in foul trouble. What's worse, not grabbing defensive rebounds and giving the opposing team more looks. For the second game in a row, the Cats gave up a lot of offensive boards giving Stanford second or third looks. Can't win if we can't rebound.

Couple things that are driving me nuts. Last night coach went back to letting Senglin run the point. In each instance the Cats were out-scored terribly. Our offense went stagnant and turnovers happened. Weber was actually winning the second half until Randy went back to Jeremy at the point. He is not a point guard. When will our coach figure that out? McKay Cannon, Cody John, Dusty, Harding all should play the point before Jeremy is allowed to. The offense stutters whenever he is running the point. It is slow, because he is looking for his options first and not thinking about the team. He is a 2 guard. RANDY!! HE IS A 2!! We are down 7 in the first half, Randy takes out Cannon and has a line up of Senglin, Gittens, Richardson, Hill, and Dallas and we got lit up! With 7 to go in the game, we are making a little run, trying to make the game more respectable, and once again, Randy goes back to the aforementioned lineup. Again we look offensively impotent and defensively slow. Stanford ends our run and in-turn goes on a run and puts the game totally out of reach. JEREMY IS NOT A POINT GUARD!!

Our rebounding!! Instead of crashing boards, or following their shots, our guys are too busy running backward whenever a shot is thrown up. Yes, we need to limit the transition game, but scoring points is how games are won.

Lastly, put the cards away. Our teams #1 strength is speed and slashing. Let them run some. I understand the need for the half-court offense, but really, sometimes just let the guys run. When we were allowed to run last night, Stanford could not keep up. We are quicker than most teams.

We’re still trying to figure out our roles and get comfortable in our system,” Rahe said. “When you’re playing really good teams, sometimes it doesn’t go very well when you’re trying to do all that stuff. Give Stanford credit, they’re a really good team.”

:dead: Just as predictable as the result of this game are the excuses from Rahe. Same excuses, different year. Someone please remind Randy that he lost exactly 1 player from last season, has 3 seniors, 3 Juniors, and 4 returning starters.
