To be fair to McNeese State their 4 losses are to Missouri, LSU (gave them a good game, down 16-10 at the half), #5 SFA (had the lead and SFA scored the go ahead TD with 53 seconds left) and Cal Poly. I would bet they win at least 4 of their last 5 games.DrMike said:McNeese is 2-4, with a win over Lamar and Northwestern St. who votes for them?

I am not saying they deserved to be ranked or even be receiving votes. I am just saying they are a better team then their record. It would not shock me to see them run the table.StungAlum said:SloStang said:To be fair to McNeese State their 4 losses are to Missouri, LSU (gave them a good game, down 16-10 at the half), #5 SFA (had the lead and SFA scored the go ahead TD with 53 seconds left) and Cal Poly. So what?! Montucky and Montucky State were/are both ranked and the Hornets only lost by a TOTAL of 6 points! What was the point margin against McNeese? Probably not 6 points.
Missouri 50-6
Cal Poly 40-14
SFA 32-27
LSU 32-10
The above losses hardly constitute a good season or being ranked anywhere in the top 50, or receiving any votes.

No bad losses. Missouri is #16/#18 FBS team, Cal Poly is #21/#22 FCS team, 5 point last minute loss to the #4/#5 FCS team and a 22 point loss to the #6 FBS school. How many of those games to you think Sac State would win?StungAlum said:SloStang said:I am not saying they deserved to be ranked or even be receiving votes. Still not buying what you're selling, I just don't see how a team that has been routed/blown out three times is any good, not to mention losing to SFA, a regional foe. If Sac had that record, your opinion would be very different I'm sure.

So you're saying that a team at 0-1 is no good by definition?
SloStang said:All I am saying who you lose to and how you play them has to be taken into consideration. Which Sac State team would you consider better this year? A Sac State that is 2-4 and it's 4 losses are getting blown out by Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Savanah State and San Diego or a Sac State team losing close games to Montana, NAU, Weber State and Montana State? Like I said, who you play and how you play them has to be taken into consideration. McNeese State is not as bad as their 2-4 record. Their 4 losses have been to good teams. They play very well against the #4 FCS team and gave the #6 FBS team a good game.

That's BCS talk and there's no room for that stuff in a league that has a playoff system. You can't get to the playoffs based on strength of schedule last time I checked, it's all about wins and who a team has defeated.

Explain that to the Cow Poly and U of San Diego teams that got shafted on the playoffs with outstanding records but no SOS to speak of.
