No real changes to the depth chart. Downs still is not listed. Constantine is the starter at QB Kevin Smith and Kris Jackson are listed as an OR backing up Josh Davis at the RB position.
Does Downs have a red shirt year to use?
Yes. He is a 2015 recruit. Straight from high school to the mission field. Played 11 games as a true freshman in 2017 and 5 games his sophomore year in 2018.

That is really good news. He could play in up to 4 games this year and still have two years of eligibility left. We only lose one starter on the O line after this season. That could be big for the O line over the next few years. We are quite young this year, but they are getting a baptism by fire.

Does anyone have any clue what’s going on with him? I think Hein briefly mentioned it was a knee issue. I just don’t get why he was listed as a starter for the first 3 or 4 weeks. He suited up for those but the last 2 games he hasn’t been suited up. Hopefully everything is okay there, I think he’s our best o-lineman.

It may be that they are thinking of holding him out for that RS year. They could still use him in the playoffs and still get the RS year. He may also not be at 100% yet.

I am all for being humble but at this stage Weber is ranked #4 let’s show them what the #4 team is all about. Yes the offense has flaws but I see them picking up the pace. I hope it’s a blowout 500plus offensive yards and the defense leaves them scoreless.... Go Weber

SUU is 0-4 on the road, with the average score being 19-46. They're 0-3 in FCS road games, with the average score being 17-43. Weber is 2-0 at home (both FCS opponents), with the average score being 35-21. The teams have two common opponents, Cal Poly and Northern Iowa. SUU lost to Cal Poly at home 21-24 and lost to UNI on the road 14-34. Weber beat Cal Poly at home 41-24 and UNI at home 29-17.

This one has blowout written all over it. At least a three touchdown win. Is this the game that Weber finally puts it's opponent away for good early on? Hill admitted in post game interview this hasn't happened yet. Hope that's been a focus of the team this week.

Gut feeling that this will be a coming out party for the offense today. Weber runs for 200 and passes for 200 dominates the first half and coasts to a nice win. SUU will get a late score to cover.

Weber 34-17

What a flat start. They never seem to get fired up for this game. Going to be another battle.

Jenks is flat out worse than Constantine. Why is he starting?

Probably Schramm’s idea.

Betting the mortgage on the Wildcats not covering the spread was very tempting.

It's officially time to lower our expectations for this team. The offense is horribly inconsistent and the defense is regressing.

Completely agree. The offense is MUCH worse than the 2017 team’s offense. The defense isn’t close to the 2018 team’s defense. The special teams are no longer exceptional. We apparently don’t have a QB. The o-line can’t protect the QB vs a bad FCS team.

Best case scenario: this team MAY finish in the top 16. We are ranked in the top 5 based on previous team’s accomplishments.

This was a great win against a rival. We were a missed medium range field goal and a 4th and 15 lucky play from winning 32-7. We made a lot of progress in the second half. Look back at games the last few years. We have a lot of games we won by a touchdown or two. When we win a lot, the tendency is I think we should blow everybody out.

I have a hard time seeing Weber State pull road wins at Sac State and Montana. I think UC Davis will be a tough road game, and Idaho State is looking tough, too. The schedule only gets harder and Weber State has struggled against the easier teams.

The offensive scheme is lame and will never put teams away...ever. The QBs either can’t keep the D honest by throwing 15 yards down the field or Schramm expects the offense to run against a stacked line.

Once again, the defense wins the game for us. Hell, they are even put in on offense to score. You can’t expect this every week and win a conference or FCS Championship.

Congrats to the defense on shouldering the load again and getting a rival win. Here’s hoping Hill can get his first win against NAU.

Our offensive struggles in the first half were largely due to our O line's inability to block 3 SUU rushers. SUU sometimes rushed a 4th guy, but most of the night it was 3, and they were in Jenks' face all night long. No QB or scheme will be a success when you have 2 seconds to get a pass off. We need to do some serious development with our O linemen this next off season, if we hope to get better for next year. It doesn't seem like we are making progress this year. With a stronger O line our running attack would be twice as good also. It all starts up front, and right now that is where it is stopping. Our offensive struggles are putting a lot more pressure on our D. :coffee:
